Shannon is one of the few talking heads I like.

I guess the same statement could be said for Billicrap. I think he is highest paid HC in the NFL.

some others national media continue to protect Tomlin even if the steelers have been average at best in the last 5-6 years at least.2 playoffs apparence only since 2018

They are both right. Not sure why everyone thinks we will automatically acquire a great coach. Look around the league right now.

Art is running the show right now, not Dan. Someone on here said Art had a hand in hiring Canada, I tend to think it was mainly Tomlin but if true, y’all confident in getting the next coach right? Greenberg is just saying be careful what you wish for.

Sharpe is also right, Steelers are supposed to be about championships, not above 500 seasons.

There are times when a head coach's run is over. This team is a complete mess. However saying they may get a bad coach is no excuse for trying to fix this. I know that's not what you're saying. But there are others that think firing him and hiring a new coach will be a disaster. I guess if .500 football is the new standard then we're good! We'll see what happens.

I prefer to take a chance for a new coach since the steelers have been average for so many years now....The next head coach could be great, could be poor but what the steelers have done in the last several years don't work at this point

Good grief, this kind of thinking is ludicrous. Let's just make Tomlin coach for life, Greeny. What is with the national sports media's twisted obsession with Tomlin?

And who says we're going to get on that hamster wheel of other coaches? How stupid can you be?! We might just hire the next Chuck Noll who will bring us a few more Lombardis over the next decade! I like Greeny's take on most things but sometimes these guys talk just to hear themselves talk.

I saw that as well and he is spot on, you are not paid to be a .500 coach. The amazing thing is it took this long for the media to begin to criticize this guy with any regularity. It was always kid gloves because he is one of the only minority head coaches left and that has muted some of the criticism that we as fans have seen for some time. The non losing season crap clouded their judgment as well. You always hear Stephen A, as an example, say we love Coach Tomlin, then but.... What does it matter whether you love him or not, this is a business about results period end of story. Who cares whether we like the guy or not, just analyze him based on the teams performance and his decisions. I, along with the vast majority of fans (there will always be a-holes that don't like someone based on their skin color) just want a coach that brings discipline, attention to detail and can get the Steelers back to deep playoff runs and what their race is is irrelevant as long as that isn't the reason you select the next coach. Get the best possible coach and staff you can after you complete a thorough vetting process.

You say that but can only imagine what this place would look like winning only three games and out of the playoffs by week 4.

For the last 12+ years, the Steelers have been painfully average. 3 play-off wins in 12 years, is pathetically bad and NOT Steelers football at all. I honestly think it's time to move on for both the Steelers and Tomlin. I'm never for coaching turnover quickly, I think it often takes a few season for a coach to get in their own people and system, but how long do we have to watch this slow slide into mediocrity?

You would think that a coach like Bill Belichick would be 100% safe, but even the Patriots see it might be time to move on. 6 Super Bowl Championships and 9 appearances in NE, he's 30-12 in the playoffs and he might not be brought back next season. Yet Tomlin gets a free pass because he's never had a losing season?

Well then we would get a top flight QB and help retool this roster. Personally I would take a losing seasons if it helps get this team on track. It's beyond stale. And at a Stalemate. And it all starts with Tomlin.

It’s so frustrating that as things stand now with 7 wins we only have the 16th pick.

We need everyone from Chicago down to win out and for us to lose out to get pick 5, lol.

He wasn't? Dan was still present. From what I read it was a collective Rooney hire. I could be wrong.

Most over rated coach in football. Change his name... lay out the stats of the last 10 seasons vs expectations and then explain to me how that's a good coach.

Right, when that losing season happens I don't wanna see a peep out of you. People always claiming what they would do and how they would react in less then ideal situations until it actually happens.

I am not a MT supporter, but without looking at tape
to see where the breakdowns occurred at least he was telling the truth.

...and you'll react the same way you would if it were any other coach. Meanwhile, I'll be sitting back laughing at your goofy azz.

No way he'd have been HC for 17 years anywhere else in the league, that's a fact.

"Be careful what you wish for" I call BS on that, find me a Steeler fan who thinks being mediocre is good enough, you're either rebuilding and trying to get back or you're contending, this 8-9 win BS is the wasteland without hope or expecation and that's a bad place to be.

MT has had umpteen chances to show he can bridge the gap between the wasteland and geneuine contenders - he can't do it. It's so stale now there's mould growing on it and it smells like defeat. Enough's enough, this is the first season I have been on the "MT has to go" bandwagon despite kool-aiding myself for years into blanking out all the mind-numbing in game management, the timeout tomfoolery, the endless red flag fails, and the utter steadfast refusal to make any changes until maintaining the status quo has become utterly untenable (MC a classic example).

It's not all on MT though, Rooney has his share of the blame though, he should have acted before and I am sick and ****ing tired of the laughable coaching hires - they're just not collectively up to the standard of a serious NFL team.

The whole thing reeks of nepotism and complacency.

Time for a complete clearout of the coaches I want to see what a competent staff can do with the players we have before making drastic changes to the roster there's clearly many that need to go but. I'm not giving on guys like Pickens and maybe KP when all the coaching they've had is this clown show. Maybe KP's celing was never high enough to begin with but Pickens is a superstar on a proper team and I do not mean an elite level team either.

He's right. There is no guarentee that firing Tomlin and hiring another HC will result in instant success.

That being said, settling for being just above .500 every season wont result in success either.

Tomlin is a good coach, but his window to deliver playoff wins, and ultimately championships, has come and gone. It would be best for him and for the Steelers to go their seperate ways.
