Ben carried MT like Brees carried Payton, Brady carried Belichik and Arians, Rodgers carried McCarthy, Wilson carried Carroll… You need a true franchise QB to win in this league

yes - hate that that is what the league has become today.

Now - in yesteryears game, a GREAT QB made the difference, but today, TOO MUCH emphasis is on that position

Agree you need a true franchise QB, the point is what coaches do after their QB is gone, Payton, McCarthy, Carroll doing better then Tomlin

Ben covered up for so many inefficiencies. In particular poor coaching and poor offensive line play. We never needed top of the line play until Ben’s later years. He won a Super Bowl with a patchwork Oline. Tomlin never really had to worry about team building on the offensive side of the ball with the exception of a couple wide receivers. All his focus was put into the defense and outside of alot of Lebeau’s players and defensive schemes Tomlin has failed in that area as well. It is a sad state of affairs this team is in.

To be fair Tomlin has had 3 seasons without Ben and this is likely to be his only losing one without him.

They only have had like 3 of those plus no playoff wins in the last 6 years with Ben. Is a coach not supposed to have any drop off after losing a HOF QB?.

Start Mason --cut-- Mitch or trade him take the money hit would not try bringing Ben back though .There is a QB out there who will be our next Franchise QB but I don't think its Kenny.Kenny is a bridge to our next QB

Holding onto the ball too long is some of the biggest BS arguments against a QB’s overall success that I’ve ever heard. It came from the years of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady who were two of the most efficient QBs to ever play the game. It was most likely cause they studied so hard but other players have been just as successful scrambling around finding time to make the play. Lamar Jackson was a wizard at it last night.

anyway, our o-line can't block for 1 second let alone 3 so yaa our QB needs to be a scrambler also.

Salary cap. All teams form cracks under the weight of a franchise QB. You are seeing in KC right now. They held on for a while because MaHomes contract was backloaded as was Dallas. The bill is coming due. Cincinnati got worse after his big contract and will get worse because Higgins and Boyd are probably gone. Watch Cleveland and Baltimore start kicking and screaming soon.

What’s not true about that? The same thing happened in Green Bay. The Seahawks fell apart after Russ’ big deal. We struggled with cap 2013forward. Ben and AB made a lot, as did a couple linemen. We had to let several guys go we needed like Hilton. We were also not able to spend a lot in free agency.

A team can legally cheat the salary cap when you are a super bowl contender.I mean, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year and yes this year the Chiefs receivers are not good but they still have a good team....The Ravens will have a realistic chance between this year and 2025 and after that, Lamar's contract will be restructured to extend the window with some voided years in his contract...Dallas are very talented right now

The most talented team in the Roethlisberger era were in 2017....If you draft well, the window will continue to be big, but this is not the case, you are in trouble, without a doubt

You can try to cheat it but at some point it’s not sustainable. The Cowboys are in deep and there is no way they can sign the players they have with Dak makeing 60 mil next year. You can try and kick the can down the road but it will finally catch up to you which is what happened to us. KC is feeling the pain and it will only get worse. Do you think the fact that we went to our last three super bowls during Ben’s rookie deal was by accident? Then from there we started bleeding players to free agency and or retirements. When we lost legacy players, we didn’t have a surplus of cash to spend. Not only did Ben’s contract become an issue, he did to with injury. His play naturally slowed down and he was injured a lot more.

Ben's arm was shot and it was time to go but his last year he threw 22 TD's and had 10 picks and we went to the playoffs. That's a lot better than our QB's this year with 10 TD's and 9 picks and no playoffs.

Payton struggled with Winston as his QB. He has Wilson now. McCarthy has a healthy Prescott, but he did struggled when Prescott was injured. Both can be considered franchise QBs. The job that Carroll has done with Geno Smith is admirable, but the Seahawks’ records since Wilson left is no better than Tomlin’s

The Chiefs will be fine with Mahomes' contract down the road. The only time the Steelers were in the salary cap hell were in 2011-2013 because the salary cap was down because of the lockout and in 2020-2021 because of the pandemic...Besides that, the Steelers didn't lose players because of the salary cap.

Of course, you may end up paying the price in the long term, but if you go all-in like crazy but if you're rewarded, it worth it... The Rams were all-in like crazy from 2017 to 2021 and they have been in 2 super bowls and won 1, bad season in 2022 but could be back in the playoffs this year and this is a team that has been all-in like we've never seen....not the case for the chiefs, ravens or cowboys

This... jeez. I still remember the b'ing and moaning everyone did about him in his final seasons. Right now, I'd kill for a QB that can give us 20 TD's

We need to overhaul the entire QB room. Ben was great, and the chances we find another as good as him in the next 20 are slim to none... But we can find a good one, and we need to fast.
