Adam Schefter is reporting that Mike Holmgren is interested in getting back into coaching if an NFL team is interested. I know this is extremely hypothetical but hey, that's what we do on this board, right? If you had total control of the Steelers organization today and Holmgren expressed to you that he'd like to coach the greatest franchise in the history of sports and would do it for a bargain basement price, would you send Tomlin packing to bring Holmgren in?

Nope!! He really lost his mojo the last several years. Bad drafting, etc. etc.

Not a chance. He mismanaged the SB against us and his players underperformed but that didn't stop him from whining about the referees. Everytime I'd see his face that's what I'd think about. I agree with Elway, his best years are well behind him. Hypothetically if we're looking at other coaches for the Steelers I'd go for someone younger. I'd even take Gruden over Holmgren.

No thanks, I think Mike Holmgren ship has sailed,
I would be interested in a young hungry coach with some
pizazz to replace Coch Cliche though.

No, no, a thousand times, NO!
I don't understand all the people on here who complain about Tomlin speaking in cliches. Have you neverseen another coaches press conferences? In any Sport? They ALL do it. It's required when you take the job to learn sports cliches! Cowher was really good at it too.

is not the cliche is that is the only thing he has for the rest he is useless and doesn't have the balls to fear his players and to make them fight , he is soft like a butter while trying to cover everything with the intelligents ? words he use in the press room thinking nobody will discover what there is under . it's like a politicians ,all words no substance . i know i will got flamed but thats what i think . sorry happy new year

Maybe they can package him with a field goal kicker too?

Seriously, he has been tainted with the stench of the Browns organization. Plus that would be a downgrade. So, no.

Well Jack we've heard everyone else's opinion so what about yours? I also would say no to Holmgren as well but I actually like him personally though. Didn't he take a BA philosophy with Favre and said "well he's gonna throw some picks but I'm not gonna try and change his style too much or make him feel any real ramifications for his actions"?

Nah, I'd stick with Tomlin. I get frustrated with Coach T as much as the next guy but I think he's a pretty good coach overall. I never have liked the idea of recycling coaches and like the Steelers' approach of finding a young, talented and hungry coach and letting him run with it. Tomlin needs to get this team turned around though. This is his opportunity to prove that he's an elite head coach and at this point the jury is still out.

While I think there are still areas that Tomlin can get better in, I will say this....6 years ZERO losing seasons. Half of his years coaching the team has finished 12-4 and in Half of the years he has won the division.

Yeah, you need flamed a little for that. ;) The "Win One For The Gipper" speeches probably don't go very far with paid professionals. Maybe we don't really want to know exactly how he's wording it behind closed doors.

I'd stand behind Tomlin before I would stand behind Holmgren...I heard he has really bad flatulence!

Aren't Holgren and Reid cut from the same cloth?

I wouldn't want neither of them.

If Tomlin does find himself on a short leash next year then I would look at Stanfords Coach. People harp on the idea of bringing college coaches to the NFL but I believe you will see more and more of it. There might be up to 10 openings at the NFL level and I can honestly think that at least 3 of them may be filled by college rank coaches.
