Yeah Dwyer is not bad but I definitely don't think he's an every down back. Would you rather have a guy that's gonna pound it and pound it or would you rather have a guy that will just blow by people? The new vogue seems to be the blazing speed back.

Dwyer just needs better conditioning, always been the knock on him, whether he can do that or not, I don't know but if he can, we can win with him. If the Bus were still here, no one would be saying we can't win with that style of rb.

At this point I'll take either because we need both LOL.

Truth, if Montee Ball (Power) falls, you take him. Realistically, the likes of Ellington (speed) is what they'll be assessing.

    We'll see...

I honestly didn't even realize he was still in the league. Man AZ is like half Steelers retirement home and half Witness Protection Program.

Ball falls??? Hes what a late 2nd to mid third guy....I like the idea of drafting Ball but not in the first. Just to many other needs we have to address.... Rbs are a dime a dozen in this draft....Think we could trade down and still get him late 2nd or early 3rd.

I'll tell you what. I'll trade half our dang roster to the Skins for Alfred Morris and THAT will fix our running game in a heartbeat! 200 yds and 3 tds in this day and age is almost unheard of!

We and every other team had 5 if not 6 chances to draft this guy......Just the way the ball bounces....If I recall Brady was a 6th.

Yeah he was like the near bottom of that round too! I'm sure having RG3 helps open up a lot of lanes for Morris but still that dude runs with absolute authority!

Yeah, well, let's just see where he goes.

I don't think good RBs are a dime a dozen this coming draft.

Sometimes Dwyer runs like that too. But also, sometimes he goes down just as easily as Mendy, without the added bonus of a breakaway burst. If Dwyer could consistently run with anger and fury he'd be a beast and I would be happy going into 2013 with him as our feature guy.

Remember that this was his first season of coming into camp in proper shape.

If he maintains his focus in the off-season, then who knows? Perhaps he can play more consistently through the whole game.

When was last time we had 1000 yard back?
when is the next time we have a 1000 yardback?

    VariableS.

You can have a premier RB but he isn't going to do JACK without good play calling and an o-line that does it's job.

2010 Mendenhall had 1273 getting about 20 touches per game.
Last year Mendenhall had 928 only getting around 15 touches per game, but then he got injured.
2009 Mendenhall also had 1108 yards with about 15 touches per game.

Mendenhall is certainly a capable RB able to give a team over 1000 yards consistently if he is actually used.
IF he ends up elsewhere, look for him to have a career year next year.

    Agreed.

And if we were to lose Mendenhall, we're putting our faith in a guy, Dwyer, who - as I said in another thread - has turned up to camp in shape a grand total of one season.

I keep hearing about the lack of a running game and all kinds of backs but Alfred Morris couldn't run here and neither could A. Peterson. No running back in the league is going to be able to run behind the patchwork oline we field every game and I wonder is the strength and conditioning coach does have a hand in all the injuries. The reason is we seem to be the only team in the league to loose multiple olinemen before the preseason is over and by the third game of the season we have had the 3rd different starting oline due to injuries, no other team in the league is as snake bit at that position.

I couldn't care less if I get the last word in. Now answering a question with a question, THAT is annoying as hell.

You have the chance to get the last word in if that is what your goal is. All you have to do is answer my question. Problem solved.
