If this is the case, I'd rather ride Pickett than draft or trade for a QB. There won't be a huge shift in scheme. Drafting a QB would just be a waste of draft capital.

FFS. NO! We need to clean house and bring in new blood. Last thing we need is more of the same. Sorry Eddie...

Ben has no insider information at all. Even if he did, I'm not convinced that decision has even been made yet. Ben is just talking about things that could happen. There's 50 coaches that could be hired for the job. Ben is just talking to be heard at this point

That would be a typical Tomlin move.

Rooney absolutely has to step in during this process. Give Tomlin a list of OC’s to pursue.

At the very least let Tomlin know he is on the hot seat if the offensive woes continue. That might compel Tomlin to hire a better OC.

It will be so depressing if they just do the same old hire from within.

Look at it this way, Faulkner coached with Canada for 17 years. This current system is the only system that he knows; therefore, expect more of the same.

You’re right, Ben’s not an insider, but he has been inside the building and has a feel for how Tomlin operates and likely knows the kind of relationship he has with Faulkner. He’s also playing the odds…. The only outside hire Tomlin has ever made for a coordinator position is Haley, and most people believe that was Rooney pulling the strings.

People do You honestly think Tomlin can hire any coach He wants....regardless of money??? The two people I asked about this said No, and I believe they know more than we do. Before You ask...I'm not saying names, but anyone that follows the Steelers would know them. The way they got around to saying was He would give a list, and then they(owners, and GM) would decide which ones.

If Tomlin is still here, then management needs to force a competent OC on him. Because he won’t hire one himself.

It really depends on what they do with Tomlin after the season. If they don't extend him, then keeping Faulkner as OC would make sense. Nobody from outside the Steelers organization is going to be thrilled about being an OC with a sitting duck HC, so they're definitely going to have to make some kind of decision on Tomlin soon if they hope to acquire a first rate OC. I hope Tomlin is able to see the wisdom of moving on after this season, and I hope that Rooney doesn't make the mistake of offering him an extension

This is not good news, as always hire within. Nothing is going to change, the inmates are running the institution

Let's not forget that Rooney is the one who brought Canada into the organization in the first place.

Just means he signed off on the hire if anything. That was Tomlin all the way. So obvious with their history.

Rooney brought in Haley, overrode Tomlin on Arians. Dulac can make any claim he wants but nothing will make me believe Rooney went from Haley to Canada.

Colbert had a much tighter relationship with Pitt than Tomlin. Colbert couldn't stop talking about Pickett before the draft. Colbert also had ties to Canada while Canada was OC at Pitt.

Colbert and Rooney were closer than Tomlin and Rooney.

While I'm not saying Tomlin didn't sign off on it......let's not pretend Rooney and Colbert weren't just as invested in Canada and Pickett as Tomlin.

I’ve always said Colbert and Tomlin were all in on Pickett. They attended his games at Pitt together.

Rooney was as well. Don’t think he wasn’t thinking of Dan Marino when talking about who the first round pick would be. I still think Rooney had a hand in the Harris pick. He’s the one who every off season talks about running the ball and Steelers football.

I think if you asked Tomlin before the 2022 NFL draft if he would like to draft a QB or trade for a vet he would have traded for a vet. Tomlin likes vets. Always has.

Ryan Clark recently said in the waning years of colbert the Steelers moved away form drafting the best available talent on the board to trying to fill needs and they kept missing. Not sure what the best method is but for years we would take the best athlete available when we needed new DB's. If you go need you just cant miss repeatedly or you fall years behind.

I also like to point this out. If Tomlin is the final say on who gets drafted, then why did the draft seem so different when Kahn took over?
