When I was young (no, not the old Animals song, but literally), I'd rage for two days to anyone that would listen then be mostly pissy for a week. Now, I piss and moan on here and move on. Too many other way more important things to be concerned about.

Back in the day before free agency, I used to like to root for unsung heroes like David Little and Rich Erhenburg because they weren't considered stars but worked there asses off. Hard to do that now because those kinds of guys generally move on. It's the one thing I really miss about teams mostly staying together for years.

I'm always disappointed and not in a good mood after a tough loss but I quickly put things in perspective. If you look around the world there are people starving, dying of thirst and kids being trafficked. Mitch Trubisky making a dumb decision to throw deep on 4th and 2 isn't that important in the grand scheme of things.

That loss crushed me because I knew it was over for them. Second worse loss for me was the Steelers in the 94 AFCCG then the Pens in 93.

I didn't watch the last one, either, which is odd for me.

Regarding the OP, y'all see it on this board, so this past week was particularly tough. My serious answer is that I talk about it on the board and with friends. I may be a little cranky that day, but really, it's a ****ing football game.

When you are a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates you get a great education in dealing with losing. Also, growing old makes you realize it is not so important. Where I live I watched the young mope around for weeks when their team lost the SB and WS. The older guys I golf with pretty much got over it the next day. I think if the Pirates ever made it to the big one (hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha) and lost I'd be hurting for awhile.

When I was younger, I would be upset and feel down for awhile. I felt frustrated because I just wanted them to win.

Then one day, I realized that a group of grown men, playing a game on the grass in another state where I have no control over anything shouldn't affect the joy in my day.

So now when they lose, I'm very disappointed, but I don't let it ruin my day.

Nothing to cope with. When the clock hits 0:00 I'm already on to something else I need to do. I don't let sports affect my emotional state, too many other things in life that are more important.

As I age, it has become not as bad. I hate losing still. Our roster
has improved from last year. The results have not. I know injuries
have been a problem and performance of our offense has not been
    what I had hoped.

I move on to one of my many other hobbies and quickly realize that football isn't everything. Then I jump on here and say to myself out loud and quite often, "you can't possibly be serious!"

I generally pray for a comet to strike certain stadiums. Hasn’t worked yet.

Thinking about looking into this atheism.

This board obviously. Long ago I used to be the rah rah don’t you dare insult my team guy even if you are a Steelers fan but have come to realize this board is therapeutic for a lot of fans, it’s a place to vent and get your frustration out, to talk about not just the good but also the bad.

There is nothing wrong criticizing the team, especially when they deserve it like these last two losses.

From reading the passionate comments on this board, I was afraid many had no other aspect of their lives. Good to hear so many keep this in the proper perspective. Growing up in Pittsburgh in the 70s, I was spoiled by Steelers' success, and long for those glory days. As I was no longer in the 'burgh, since the age of the internet (and this board and its previous incarnation), it has been much easier to stay a fan and stay connected to this great nation, even if the team is not always great.

Browns fan here so believe me, I can relate. . I was in high school/Marine Corps when the Browns were stolen by Baltimore. - I had nothing but girls, music, and cars on my mind back then so I had plenty of positive distractions.
I was in my 20’s when they came back as an expansion team and I’d say from ‘99-2019ish, it was some of the most ridiculous football that I’ve ever seen. I’d make excuses- blame officiating, blame coaches, etc. As the years went on, and now that I’m closer to 50 than to 20, I’ve learned a great way to cope when the Browns or Buckeyes lose…
I agree with many of your Steeler Brethren on here that’s it’s best to pick your head up and be happy for the last 20 years and also to be happy for everything outside of football.
I still get a little ticked when the Browns lose. But Ive come to the realization that if I have the time, energy, and mental space to worry about a football team, then I’m a lucky guy compared to lots of other people.
After teaching and then working in human services for a few years, I can assure you, there are lots of children and adults with limited mobility, inability to see, hear, speak, walk, etc.
I’ve learned to take things like pro and college football for what they were created for. -Fun, amusement, and a distraction from our daily and nightly lives.
    Hope my .02 helps.

By remembering it’s just a business. All teams will lose games. I always think to myself, I wonder if any of the players would care if something went wrong at my house?
