He has the year left on his contract so next year is likely his last. Another wasted season though which is unfortunate.

After firing Matt Canada, and then making history by losing to a 2-10, followed by losing to a 2-11 team, I thought maybe Tomlin would put his money where his mouth was and step down.

Not sure how he can look at himself in the mirror after saying he was justified in firing Matt Canada, when Tomlin just set an all-time NFL record by losing back-to-back to teams that were 8 games under .500.

Tomlin always said that he got the best job in the world, coaching the Steelers

The thing I find odd is Belichek is on the hot seat. The media is regularly talking about how he might be fired. Look at the success he has had vs Tomlin. It's not even close. If Belichek can be on the hot seat, why is it that Tomlin is the medias little darling coach? How did it get to this point?

He also isn't going to coach as a lame duck next year, so he will probably get an extension.

One of two things will happen, either Tomlin is getting an extension or Tomlin and the Steelers go their separate way. You're not going to be able to attract coordinators to coach for a potential lame duck coach. Even Pittsburgh media is starting to see the writing on the wall here.

Nor should he. I want him gone more than anything, but if they choose to bring him back, they need to extend him. We will not be able to get any decent OC here if Tomlin is on the last year of his contract. Who would want to work for a lame duck coach? You're likely to be unemployed within a year. Anybody worth hiring won't be interested.

He's not getting a extension, IMO. . He has already lost the team, surely Rooney can see that 17- 18 years is long enough to coach the same tesm

Even Stephen A Smith saying now the problem starts at the top and you have to look at Tomlin.
So the media is finally fanning those flames under his seat

Yea, local and national media are fanning those flames. It's one thing for Filipponi and another for Alan Sainders or Ron Cook to scream from this mountaintop.

Oh hell yes. Especially when he is the reason for all of this. What the owners are missing, in a huge way, is their expectation's and those of the fans are lightyears apart. ARII is probably thinking that since we have 6 SB rings we should just try and be pathetic and give the other franchises time to catch up. It's working. JMO>

I actually do. i don't get it. Tomlin can literally do no wrong in the eyes of the media despite having basically no playoff success since 2010. We lose to 2 basement dwellers and the media comes out in full defence of Tomlin while talking about firing Belichek. I actually don't get it.

I know what some are getting at, and I'm not touching that argument with a 10 foot pole.

But consider that Belichek is a miserable ogre (and known cheater), and Tomlin, for all his faults, is a very likeable and charismatic guy. That's really all the comparison you need.

I don't disagree. But he's asking why the media is questioning Bill's job security but not Tomlin's.

I dunno, there's a few in the media questioning Tomlin's security from Muller to Ron Cook to Fittapaldo then on the national stage guys like Steven A Smith and Colin Cowert. It's certainly not as loud as Billichek, but the voices are there.

Well on ESPN they keep saying the great Mike Tomlin. I’m not real sure what he’s great at Mike Wilbon called him great on Friday.
