I think they think Harris is a hammer. And don't realize he isn't.

    Or

I think they think he needs time to see where a hole will develop and that he'll be quick enough to hit it, and hit hard. But they don't realize he isn't.

So I agree. Harris needs to stop being used at the goal line. And it's pretty obvious.

After I read all this. So now not is Tomlin the Owner, GM, and DC.....He is now the OC. Is There No End To His Power. Why do we even pay GMs, and other coaches???? It's mind-boggling. The Steelers could save a lot of money, and Just have Tomlin.....since in most minds He does everything, and doesn't answer to anyone. He should have pulled Cole...He has a hand injury from what I heard, and He should not go for it on 4th down with a team that can hardly score. There are some coaching issues that He is at blame for, but for freaking sake....make the appropriate blames. He doesn't call plays on any mic up I've ever heard....He does say yes , or no though, and suggest at times...and He should have on a few occasions yesterday.

As Warren gets stuffed at the hole, and we hear crickets from the bash Najee crew, or He fumbles again, and more crickets from the bash Najee crew.

...in reality it really doesn't matter if it's from the shotgun or under center. The only difference between the two really is how the ball is being exchanged. ...whether the QB flows back to him or whether he hands it to him right there next to him he's pretty much getting the ball at the same distance or just a little bit less distance under center. I don't know if the force a person runs w/ or w/o ball in their hand when you're talking about that short of a distance is really that impactful. It seems like there's bigger problems then that.

The problem to me is the play design and lack of creativity and the play up front. If there's good penetration from the defense up front it doesn't matter what formation you line up in. Youre not going to get any different result when you're just running straight up into a pile whether you line up behind center, or not. You're not giving the defense much to think about if that's what u do every single time on a 4th and 1. They dont like to use fullbacks apparently although it could make a big difference on a 1 yd play. I would say do everything from a yd or less under center if you were good at something like the brotherly shove. The Steelers aren't particularly good at anything. They need a few looks they can give a defense out of any goaline that they run.

I agree with using Warren more down there also. Harris tends to stutter step if he doesn't see a clear hole too much for me.

    I agree.

Najee Harris makes sense at the goal line because he can push piles and drag people. Having Pickett under center would actually help a big back get a head of steam and allow for play action to throw. But I guess that's another conversation.

I really like Warren as a back, but besides what you bring up in your post, there is another issue. He has been a liability in pass protection. There are many times they have the protection covered and have the numbers to block it, and Warren just misses his assignment and allows a free runner at the QB. It has been happening a lot. I understand that he is great in space and an excellent runner, but there is a hell of a lot of other responsibilities that you don't see in highlights enough that you better do well, or the team suffers and your QB gets hit or worse.

Don't get me wrong, Harris may miss an assignment here and there, but I don't understand the shade always thrown at Harris. I'm happy that there are two backs that can make plays for this team.

This. I don't bring up the miss assignments on blocking because I'm trying not to be a hater like others are to Najee. I actually think....like You said We need both, and neither are the real weakness of our Offense. It seems strange to complain about two of the better offensive guys.....yet some just want to on here.

I hate your handle BTW, nothing personal... lol.

Matt Canada's cancer was allowed to fester for 3 years here. So, those plays learned are plays they have to draw from.
That said, you are spot on in your criticism but wrong on one point.

"Couple weeks ago Steelers are backed up in there own end zone and line up in shotgun with a QB that can never move the ball, almost results in a safety, the next play they hand it off to Harris who stutter steps behind the line of scrimmage almost gets a safety"

Kenny is a pretty mobile QB. Let's take a different route.
    - They line up in shotgun: This is wrong for so many reasons, including that our mobile QB has sore ribs. Why are subjecting him to more damage?
    - In these situations, you want as many threats on the field as you can to keep the offense looking and second guessing. The best way to accomplish is under center, with a RB and a motioning HB or FB. You can play-action forcing LB's to converge and get your RB or TE in some sort of quick read. For example that is.
Matt Canada never had a clue,
    - A RB like Harris, 6'+ and around 240 is a cut and go guy, a downhill runner. Running him out of a Shotgun is stupid. That's all. I would have thrown my headset at Canada.
    - Warren, as you elude to is a good shotgun RB. We have a great 1 and 2 threat at RB. Most OC's would pound those guys until defenses were wore out from tackling. Not Canada.

So, the play selections are limited. But Shotgun in those situations, is poor play calling.

I have issues also with formation shifts, WR route running, and exploiting defensive weaknesses...

The standard is the standard is the most incredible mind blowing coaching wisdom I’ve ever heard. Except for all the rest.

Oh Lord, thank you. Now I understand why this guy does and says the things he does. I guess gaining one yard is the same as having to gain 5, in the end zone, with crap weather, with our OL. Makes perfect sense. I like the Eagles method as it is nearly unstoppable. We'd never do that kind of out the box coaching. We'll keep doing what we're doing because that is what we've always done.
