I'll never forget the 07 season when he first came onto the scene. The prime time blowout of the ravens when he had four sacks and he destroyed Ed Reed on a punt return. He really gave the D a shot in the arm coming off an 8-8 season where a lot of guys on the D came under fire by fans ( Ryan Clark took hell on the old board after that season). Also, I remember when Brady was in Anthony Smith's face, Harrison started to approach Brady and as soon as pretty boy saw Him coming he got outta there quick.

I'm really gonna miss him. Dang that guy was a beast. It really sucks to think of how many times he got cut and kept on practice squads and all that. Who knows how great he could've been if we'd had him on the field more ya know? I think of him as a truly great Steeler. I'm probably gonna miss him more than any we could lose tomorrow.

That's the game I always think about when I think of great games from him. My FAVORITE play of course is the Super Bowl int. My favorite regular season hit would have to be the one where he laid OUT Muhammad. I also love when he absolutely piledrove Vince Young! That was a CLASSIC! I think VY is STILL wondering where he's at.

I am of the believer that he still has something in the tank,
whether the Steelers can work something out I do not know?
As for the comparison to LLoyd yes similiar play, Lloyd
would have bitten Silverbacks head off and handed it back to him.

I don't know if I would go that far. I honestly think Harrison is the better of the two and if he would have gotten a chance earlier then what he did he may have broken the Steelers all time sack record. You have to look at Harrison's stats as a whole year in AMD year out. For an old to get the sacks he did plus average 100 tackles for I think 4 years in a row is pretty crazy. Also Harrison's tomahawk is nasty

Someone will come. The Steelers tradition is such that an LB wouldn't turn up here expecting to play soft. Those 40-odd years of mean tackling, and those figures - Greene, Lambert, Lloyd, Harrison - are all part of what it means to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But he did get a chance, he got plenty of chances, especially in the off-season and pre-season. He just wasn't good enough for most of his career. Obviously something clicked for him at some point, but it's not like he didn't get a chance.

I hope so, but I'm starting to wonder if we have lost our identity somewhere along the way. We have no running game and haven't really had a good one for a long time now. We aren't a mean, hard hitting team anymore. We don't produce sacks anymore.

I admit, I've been bummed he hasn't been able to let himself loose this season (he admitted it early on, though I saw more of his old self the last game or two) out of fear of getting his hand slapped. I'd been additionally bummed to see him go next year.

If he's playing at half speed because he's scared of drawing a flag, then he has to go. We can't have players not giving 100%, regardless of the reason. There's no reason he can't play at full speed like all the other physical LB'ers in the league do.

i agree. if hes not playing at a 100% effort because hes affraid of getting fined than hes no use to them. Harrison unleashed is about as good as it gets for any LB in the NFL. Harrison playing to not get fined is almost invisible. if he cant figure out how to play by the new rules than he has to go. i dont always agree with the rules, but they are what they are and if he cant do it its time to part ways.

Not disagreeing by any means, and I saw him play more like his old self towards the end of the season. The interview where he admitted the repeated fines affected his play was towards the first quarter of the season if I remember right. Hoping next year, if he stays (and I hope he does), he starts lighting people up like before. Fines or not, I loved watching him play and seeing some testicles on the field would be a welcome change of pace.

I don't think its holding him back, he said he just targets low now and will probably end up ruining someones career by blowing up their knees (thats not word for word). He said he won't even go high when he has a clean shot and I don't blame him, I totally believe they keep a closer eye on him because of who he is and won't get the benefit of the doubt because of it. I'm not saying the refs have specific orders to flag him, just that he was definitely the poster boy for the new rule change.

Despite the injuries and age i'm thinking Debo didn't like the way the team was coached along with Goodell down playing the sport along with inconsistent rules. The D put forth much effort this season just to watch the offense falter.. that had to be disappointing from their perspective. James was an aggressive intimidating player that many QB's feared for 10yrs. I wish Mr. Harrison the best and will truly be missed as a Pittsburgh Steeler.

We NEED James next year! I think his injuries hurt him, but he still has a dominant year (or two) in him.
