Getting on the guy for quitting on a play is very much deserved, bashing him for being bundled up in the elements is over the top.

I like him but I think he’s mentally soft, cares way too much what people say which is not good when he is the fan base piñata.

I'd agree, but don't think it's just about that. As you say, he's mentally soft. Doesn't play well when fans are looking for a leader and they have to settle for listening to his monotone responses. Mix in incidents like last week's "I was busy blocking or whatever" play, and it isn't going to go over well with the lunch pail crew.

He's not even in the top 10 of players I want changed on this team.

My comments had nothing to do about him being bundled up on the bench. I agree with your assertion that he needs to tune out the noise. I'll also take into consideration that he is likely frustrated with this offense and the lack of targets. He sometimes gets on my nerves when things are going well. So, his behavior is magnified when things are bad, like today.

The fact that DJ still doesn't get it proves he never will. I made this same statement over 2 years ago.

He’s doing stuff lately that I can’t defend, like what you mentioned but when I see people still acting like he drops a ton of passes when year in and year out is among the lowest drops, it just tell me a lot of the gripes about him are irrational. Just look at last week, he scored a TD that the refs screwed up and Tomlin too but the heat gets directed at Johnson.

Another thing to think about, he was much better with Ben throwing him the ball. So who is it really, him or this offense/Pickett.

For that matter, look at Pickens, enormous talent being completely wasted.

DJ may have his issues but he is still the best route runner on this team by a wide margin. I'm not going to excuse his behavior or drops, but he would absolutely cook on a team that had a top 10 quarterback. His TD route was beautiful and he made a great catch before that over the middle. He is open a lot, Kenny often just doesn't see it.

I agree regarding his on-field talents, and have felt the same about those over-exaggerating his drops. PFR has his drop rate at a 1.8% this season, one of the lowest in the league - for context, Diggs has a 5.0%, Hill a 7.5% - and the two years before that he notched a 4.8% and 3.0%, respectively.

And as I said in another thread today, their keeping Canada around this season made it a wasted year of development for all of their skill players, save Warren. Considering the youth they have, it was a really stupid decision.

He dropped the would-be TD last week. Hold the ball and remove all doubt.

Got a hole in one the other day and some guys recorded my celebration. I did not know they were doing it. I looked like a little boy on Christmas morning and had to tell them I would stick my club where the sun don't shine if they posted it on the internet.

No way in hell. Family members said I have to act my age if it happens again. That was my 4th but 1st in many years.

It was a TD. What you want is for him to continue to carry the ball around like Linus’ blanket.

Watching it in real-time and again in slow-motion and frame-by-frame: Johnson was not being tackled when he caught the ball. He had possession and his second foot down right before the Bengal contacted him. It was a touchdown by rule, I believe.

(And Johnson didn't drop it. The defender punched it out. I can't get on a receiver when a DB makes a good play.)

    He's paid as a no. 1 receiver.
A catchable TD pass has only been in his hands once or twice in the last couple seasons.
All he does is create drama in an effort to quiet his critics.

    HOLD ONTO THE GD BALL.
