As it stands now I don't think this draft is all that great but the Steelers will do what they always do draft the best player available. I wouldn't mind seeing them get a young safety though or linebacker.

The best passing rushing outside linebacker at number 17. Then,
The best passing rushing outside linebacker at number 34

Just FYI, if we had packed it in against the Browns we'd be picking 12th, and IMO within rage to make a move for Te'o.

Which relatively high pick was thrown into the garbage? Burress? Hampton? Troy? Ben? Timmons? Pouncey?

I am pretty cranky we wound up at 17 instead of 12. I didn't want to throw the game, but I would have been happy to play plenty of backups that need the time and let fate decide. What was to be gained by treating it as they did, like a normal game? If you lose, then congrats, you can't even beat the Browns at full strength. If you win, congrats, with all our starters we can squeak one out against Thad Lewis and the Browns. This was a great opportunity to get some much needed experience for our youth, rest and protection for our older guys (Heyward for Keisel, anyone?) and possibly snag Te'o while we were at it. 12 to 17 is a huge difference and it will make a huge difference on the quality of the player we get.

It was stupid and close minded to play any starters that didn't have to play. It was a fitting end to a season full of short sightedness , underachievement and stupidity. How else did you expect it to end?

Te'o will still be available, after our pick at 17.

Depending what's available (of course), OT, or S.

This team's first round draft pick track record is pretty remarkable lately. It's the later picks you can question for the most part.

I say TE and LB are the best bet in first round. Miller is older and tough to come back from ACL injury

In my Dreams!!!! There is not a chance on this earth he will be there at 17... Lions at 5 or the bills at 8 will grab him up...

It would take a monster trade to get that high, that is something that is probably not happening

Agreed. I think if we had been at 12, a trade in the 8-10 range could've been realistic... but not now.
