It is funny how the mind reacts to the set moment and thinks retro actively. When they traded Dobbs he was outplayed by MR in the preseason, should they/could they have kept him. sure/maybe. Was with the Jags a year, then came back. So we had him, traded him, came back, left. Was on several different teams since, glad he is having fun and making most of the opportunity, but why would anyone think he would still be here after 7 years? A player has options as well, you go with those options to have your chance and make some money. It's not like the Steelers have some crystal ball and can predict how a player will respond.

Thank You. I thought I was the only one, and when I try explaining this....they take it as I'm taking a shot at J. Dobbs, and I'm not. I'm truly happy for Him.

Don't worry, it fits along the same lines where some posted (some other place) Dobbs should be calling plays..why, because he supposedly called one play that worked years ago. Lol. He may indeed be an OC one day, or a rocket engineer, but let's get real in the present.

When Dobbs played ar UT, he was very inaccurate but had great WRs who bailed him out time after time. He was a decent and shifty runner but made bad decisions at times. Saw him play many times at Neyland stadium and there were plenty of calls for him to get sat down in favor of the backup - Quinten Dormady at the time, everyone is like, who TF is Dormady, LOL. I never thought Dobbs was an NFL caliber QB and wasn't happy when Steelers wasted a 4th round pick on him. I honestly believe he could have been had in the 6th or even as an UDFA. All that said, it is cool to see him getting playing time and being discussed. I wish him well and am glad we aren't hanging our hopes on him. We are still looking for Ben's heir. KP ain't it.

Hindsight is always great, probably taking him in the 6th would have worked, but the grades on a lot of these guys at that point can differ by team, needs, scheme, so on. Finding Ben's heir is not going to be easy. We might luck into it, but replacing a HOF QB is never easy, finding even a decent stop gap guy is hard with such sparse QB talent. 1st round QB depth next year is supposed to be the best it has been in years, but even in those best years, 1 or 2 make an impact, maybe another has a decent career.

You only get better in this league by playing on Sunday, running the scout team ain’t it.

Dobbs really has been very much classy no matter where he lands. Does the best to hold down the fort. Teammates have loved playing with him as he is so encouraging.

You project a lot. Accuse everyone of posting with feelings, go look in a mirror.

You always say you need 5 years to judge a QB and now 7 is a bridge too far lol. Furthermore you judged Dobbs before he ever got a starting job and still judging him while falling well short of your own guidelines but sure, it’s us posting with feelings.

If you really think you can learn to play the NFL QB position without actual game time experience, there is nothing left to talk about.

It looks like the Vikings Josh Dobbs experiment might be coming to an end. I read on NFL.com that the Vikings are leaning towards starting Nick Mullin this week.

Don't let @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace hear this....He thinks he already knows how everything works with Qbs, and it will throw another monkey wrench in to another wrong prediction with him, and Qbs. LoL

Dobbs is going to get another start this week against the Raiders after the Vikings were hedging about whether to play Dobbs or Nick Mullin. Sounds like he is on a very short leash.

That does not surprise me, to come in and play like he did at first is pretty remarkable, but when the dust settles he is still who he has been. If he wants to continue in the league there is probably a place for him, and perhaps even a higher level back up at the right place.

Nick Mullins comes in and leads the Vikings to a FG drive and wins 3-0. The first 3-0 game since we beat the Dolphins in that monsoon in Pittsburgh.

The NFL product continues to deteriorate before our eyes. In a monsoon or a blizzard is one thing. This game was indoors for God's sakes!

Dobbs is heading back to the bench, the Vikings have named Nick Mullen as starter for the rest of the season.

They demoted Dobbs to #3 to get the rookie Hall reps.
