That's because it was a year and half too late, and even if you give him last year how do you not move on by the bye week. That's why!! The only acceptable answer is Rooney wouldn't let him but if we take Tomlin at his word, it was his decision then he is Ray Charles because everyone could see he should never have been brought back this year. His presser today sounded like smidgen of spite not wanting to say he was pleased the offense did better. It's almost as if he was acting like "Damn I f'd up, clearly I should have canned this guy weeks ago!!". That's how I took his behavior and the tone in which he answered some of the questions. JMO.

Tell Me the truth....how does anyone even know Tomlin hired Canada....besides You just think He did.
They way some people act....Tomlin hired Himself to the team also.
I'm surprised someone doesn't say He made Cowher retire so He could take His job too.

With everything that has been revealed about Canada (i.e. not involving assistant coaches in game planning) one wonders why it took so long to cut the string.

it's alarming anyone in a managerial position would let Canada continue to have a job for as long as he did. it was clear he was in over his head very early on during his tenure as OC. he's literally been bashed by anybody and everybody; including current and former players, coaches, analysts, etc and defended by absolutely nobody. it's one thing for fans to ***** and moan about coaches, it's another to hear professionals and former professionals call out his inability to do his job on a weekly basis.

Tomlin's in-game management has been questionable at best for quite some time now. our lack of postseason success since 2010 speaks for itself.. we all know he is terrible at challenges, as evident today.. in-game clock management, adjustments, etc have never been his strong suit. he has been outcoached in the playoffs dating back over a decade. he's not a bad coach, but he's been overrated for some time now. he's a conundrum, that's for sure.

The problem, he waited way too long to fire Canada...Like a year too late...If at least it would have been done in the offseason last January...

It was obvious that Canada was not caliber of the NFL for a long time but for some reason Tomlin and the team believed in him for way too long

You honestly think Tomlin has nothing to do with the coaching staff hires?? He’s been the HC here for how many years and he’s having coordinators placed for him? Come on. Maybe it’s not all him with everything but he has a lot of power within this organization.

At this point Canada is gone. That's the main thing.

I do believe that Tomlin fired him. But he was told to. If they beat the clowns I also believe that Canada would have been calling the game yesterday.

My only issue yesterday was that Tomlin did not challenge the DJ touchdown. Living in his Fears.

I’m interested in seeing what his response is to DJ fumble zero effort. I don’t see how that can happen without repercussions. DJ can’t get a pass on that.

did he? I heard numerous stories on this last week - that Rooney stepped in. If he did do it, why did he wait so long to do it?

By all means, present one reliable source telling us that Rooney overruled Tomlin and forced him to fire Canada. Dulac does not qualify.

Tomlin deserves to be blamed for not firing Canada after last season. It was clear he needed to go then.

Dulac wrote that. McAfee got it from him. So did some of the local blogs. Dulac has proven himself unreliable. I haven't seen that from anybody reputable.

Firing people isn't pleasant. That is a human being who lost a job. The last thing Tomlin wants to do after that is rip Canada. His actions told the story. Tomlin knew the media was going to continue to report the negative story about Canada. The easy thing to do would be to blame the guy he just fired, but Tomlin refused to go there.

I agree that he is a human being, yadda yadda yadda. MC will be JUST FINE, with his millions in his pocket. Let's not get too sentimental about it.

MT SHOULD have had the BALLS to make the change in Jan - MAYBE this offense would look A LOT different here , in week 10.

BUT - I think too that Rooney is a cheap skate and did not want to pay a guy to sit home.

so you got that thing going too...................

You'll never see what his response is. Because, like any good manager, you praise publicly, criticize privately. It's worked for him for 16 1/2 years, he's not going to change that now.

I'm just saying that your read on the post-game press conference ignores the humanity of the situation. Canada may not need the money, but it still sucks to get fired. I don't blame Tomlin for showing some sensitivity to that in his post-game reaction.

And if he'd challanged and lost, you would be one of the loudest critics of it. Can't make this chit up man.

LoL. You honestly believe Tomlin can just hire, and fire any coach He wants??. They just say hey Tomlin....here is a blank check....do whatever, and don't worry about the Guy We actually have as a GM, or what the owners think....hell it's only money. LoL. Come on...it's common sense of the business world....not even counting if they wanted him to have even close to that power....he would have been named the HC/GM....like We have seen with other HCs, but he's not....he's the HC only.
Yes I'm sure they ask him what he thinks, but make no mistake the GM, and owners are in charge of players, and coaches. This is why some coaches ask to be the GMs also.
