My thoughts on regular season wi 12

1. Offense crossed 400yds in 1st wk without Canada

2. Kenny Pickett followed up his worst game as a pro with possibly his best

3. Najee finally ran with some serious authority, or as the commentators said ...
Najee remembered that he was 240 lbs

4. No Canada.... Hey there's that guy Muth in the middle

5. TJ Watt was on a mission

6. Trenton Thompson has been a revelation in this defense

7. Diontae Johnson got robbed of a TD....
I think Tomlin's scared to challenge anything these days

8. Despite getting robbed, seeing DJ dogging it on Warren's fumble on the very next play really rubbed me the wrong way

9. Boz is Mr automatic

10. Ok, we've got the 400 yd monkey off our backs ...... Time to target the 30 pt monster now

 

11. It was nice having Browning in there.

12. That schedule at the moment looks like a delicious Christmas dinner early 6 games to go, build more and more confidence. Stay and get healthy as possible. Could get interesting?

Amazing how this offense was transformed in one week. Not perfect but close to it.

This was possibly the first game this year I quite enjoyed watching our offense

 

I agree with the write-up, great job. I am delighted with the win. How did we only score 16 points with 22 first downs and over 400 yards of offense?

 

It would been 23 points if Tomlin would challenge the TD of Johnson....They also score each of the 3 drives in the second half....

 

TBH, Tomlin should hand the red flag over to someone else on the sideline, because he just doesn't seem to have a good feel for when to use it. (and I know, HC prob is required to be the one, if I'm guessing)

 

They were in the redzone in the first quarter but they lost a fumble.

 

I have a little more optimism after watching today Kenny made some good throws! Schedule down the stretch is favorable let’s go!!

 

While I agree with you, style points do not matter, more so in this game, but at least we know there is potential for the offense. Add Johnson's TD, 23 points still shows there is still work to do.

 

Steelers should have won 23-10. Popcorn took points off the board by not challenging the DJ TD.

 

Need to see the replay in order to challenge. Everyone on this board saw it in real time and thought it was a typical DJ drop. Hard to get replays on those plays as the visiting team.

 

i agree i did also. the entire time i was waiting for something bad to happen though. Thankfully it didnt happen as much they moved the ball, had the ball flying downfield, and harris looked like the RB we all have been waiting for

 

Well summarized as usual, B&GP. I was pleased with what I saw out of the offense. Solid effort overall. Good starting point for the last six games.

And #8 on your list? Yeah, that p!ssed me off. Quit sulking like a child and get your head in the game.

 

1. I bet he's pissed lol Clearly the game plan was solid and the team played with some fire (as they should have) after they got their OC fired. We need this to continue if we want bonus football at the end of the season.

2. I hope he has more of them in the future. 270 yards, 0 TD's, and 16 offensive points scored isn't an inspiring best game. Would love to see him stack a few games even better than this one the next 6+ weeks.

3. For sure. Ran like he is supposed to at his size. More of that please. He was righfully out-touched by Warren for the first time (and we will continue to see this moving forward, but he can make sure he is a large part of the offense moving forward if he continues running like he did today.

4. The gameplan was definitely to attack the seam with Freirmuth. Got him involved in the offense finally.

5. Played very well today.

6. He's risen to the opportunity for sure. Might be earning himself a shot to be a guy in the safety rotation for us next season and might make either Kazee or Neal expendable. Fitz, Kazee/Neal, Thompson, Killebrew, Rookie would look like a solid safety room.

7. Yeah that was bad. He knew he caught it too, I am not sure why we didn't throw the challenge flag on that one. Tomlin said "he lost vision on it", and TBH that is a rough case of negligence there. Can't leave points on the table. Man's won 7 of his last 35 challenges dating all the way back to 2019... he might have some PTSD from reaching for the flag.

8. It looked like he thought the play was called dead. Still would've liked to see him try to jump on it just in case, but he looked like he had no clue the ball was live. Not a good look.

9. As always. I watched an old game vs. the Ravens that was during the one season he couldn't hit anything. It was weird to see anything other than complete confidence that he was making everything he swung his leg at.

10. Finally. It was nice to see the chains move some... Agree though. We need to start seeing the scoreboard light up too.

Overall I though Browning looked really shaky. Few fluky tipped passes and a dropped Kazee INT saved him from a truly disastrous day. There is 0 reason to not blow that team out next time we play them. That is a BAD football team without Burrow lighting it up.

I knew when the first play of the game was a dart across the middle to Muth that the offense was going to be different. It was actually fun watching them today instead of what we had to endure all season. Good riddance to Mr Canada.

 

DJ's first catch kinda set the tone for him. It was another of those I think I can dunk backwards then go forward just another headscratcher for him.

Good to see them using everyone and on basic football plays too. Quick slants that actually were thrown.

 

I forget who but I thought there was supposed to have a guy in the booth that tells him.

 

He just didn't try and circle around, he actually started running the wrong way. The Bengals just should have let him keep running and tackled him for a safety.

 

Actually Tomlin was the only one in the stadium with sunglasses on so he completely missed DJ TD.

 

How big are these next 2 games, at home with sub 500 teams. These are the games we come out flat and unprepared for historically. With the Offense finding some ground this week, I hope they continue the aggressive play calling. Need these next 2 really bad.
