And he transitioned to it like it was a breeze. Needs to work on the slant timing with Pickens but it's all little stuff from here on in. Feel so bad for the people that wore themselves out bitching about Kenny. Have been rolling my eyes at their nonsense and finally had to put most of them in ignore bin. Too much stupidity is toxic.

Today was a nice step forward, both for coaching and Pickett.

Pickett played better today. Can that improve going forward? We'll see. I think the coaching today in the game was much better. our TE was a monster today. I don't recall the steelers using the tight end like this since Heath was here. That has got to continue

Last week after the game I thought that was the worst loss in years and it may well cost us the season.

NOW I think it may be the best thing that ever happened for Kenny and the franchise’s future because it led to the firing of Canada. What a whirlwind

Why did it take Tomlin so long to not see that. Use the middle of the field and open things up and suddenly over 400 yds of offense.

I can understand protecting a rookie but this is half way through his second season.

The plays that got stuffed repeatedly have to be hold overs from Canada's playbook.

When i saw him passing it around, I told my wife he now feels comfortable to where he can start working to be better.

Absolutely. Today was a step in the right direction, that's all it was. Nothing is magically fixed after 1 game. Pickett isn't a guaranteed franchise QB after 1 game. Everyone needs to slow down a bit. Enjoy the win, enjoy the fact the offence looked much better, but don't get too carried away with conclusions just yet.

We needed to see what Pickett could do without Canada. We still need to see more, but today was very promising.

Hindsight and all, but what would have happened if they had fired him during the bye week. Obviously can't say, still work to do, but certainly the first optimism I have felt in weeks.

Big improvement in virtually every area. Great to see.

It’s worth noting that this Bengals D gives up a lot of big plays and is a much softer unit than what they faced last week but even allowing for that the improvement was pretty obvious.

I've never seen anyone as concerned about what other people think as you are.

And when people asked why Kenny did not throw to the middle even the local radio analysts (like Dorin Dickerson, who I respect) said it is because the game is too fast for him or he is not seeing the field. I have even heard someone tell me in person maybe he is not tall enough. :roflmao:

Ben's passing charts looked identical his last couple of years and no one would suggest the game moved too fast for him. It was ALWAYS the design of the offense.

    Pickett 1 Canada 0

Edit: that is 8.42 yards per attempt, which is a great average.

How about letting go what 'the people that wore themselves out bitching' think? Today was a step back in the direction of Pickett's positive development, but it's not like he didn't still make some mistakes out there. I like the kid, and want him to be a good QB, but the incessant need to try and dunk on people that express concern over his flaws seems silly in the face of a lack of relevant sample size under a competent offensive game plan.

You could see on the sideline Faulkner and Sullivan talking to the players, I don't think Canada was well liked by the players.

On one side, I feel like we will finally get a look at who Kenny Pickett actually is - good or bad - with him having a chance to properly develop week to week.

On the other, it’s so frustrating that a year of his clock has potentially been wasted by the coaching malpractice happening around him.

Agreed. But also the coaches were working together. Canada was rumored to make the game plan up himself not including any of his coaches and then gave them the plan when he was done with it to implement without their input.

KP had a nice game, but you know damn well the Bengals wasn't expecting us to use Muth, or throw past the sticks as much as we did today:shrug:
