I think we would agree that we would like to see HIM take ownership for a poorly coached team. This is after all, his team, he built it, its his coaches, his players, his decisions.....the only thing we have to show for it is a "non losing" season ....whatever thats supposed to mean. IN the NFL, success is measured in trophies, not mediocrity!

Tomlin's great if you like being 9-8.

However most fans want to win the SB and MT hasn't won a playoff game since 2016.

Oh Jesus tap dancing Christ. Bell and Blount getting caught smoking weed isn’t a coaching issue. Blount quitting on the team isn’t a coaching issue. Holmes smokimg weed isn’t a coaching issue. Harrison sleeping through meetings and acting like petulant child isn’t a coaching issue. These are grown ass men they are responsible for their own actions.

Mayfield and Minshew would be wasting time and probably Cousins too and cost a boatload of money as well.

It’s way premature to say Kenny wont do better with a competent OC. Hell, the play I saw from him last year says he can play at this level.

I disagree. With the way our defense has played, I think this team instantly is a safe playoff team with either of Minshew/Mayfield as QB. We will be kicking the can on the "QB of the future", but that is ok. We will at least be a better team in the interim.

I don't think its premature. You also have to quantify better too. Like would it be "better" if he averaged 200 yards a game and threw 10 TD's in a full 17 game season? Yes. So in this instance he could still be a bad QB but get better. I want NFL caliber play, and Kenny's deficiencies aren't schematic... the translate across different schemes making it difficult for him to succeed in any system. His rookie year he was bad too, we just had low expectations. We also had some hope because he made some plays in the 4th quarter and the team managed to win in spite of his deficiencies. We all thought he'd improve and come into this year a better QB. He hasn't. He's regressed even, and I find it incredibly hard to make the argument that he gives us a reasonable chance to win games. We've won largely in spite of his play during his tenure and I don't see that changing. I don't want to see him in 2024 mainly because I don't think he will make it through the season. With Canada gone, his scapegoat has left the building... its all on him now. Teams are going to pressure him and play zone behind it. Two things he's proven he can't handle. He either figures it out, or flames out these last 7 games in 1100 yards of glory.... My money is on the latter.

Oh no His scapegoat isn't gone yet....there will be some saying it Tomlin holding Him back next. Hell I just read from someone on here...How Tomlin brought in all these players , coaches, and GMs, and everything. He must be the most powerful HC to ever coach.....because usually Owners, and GMs have a hell of a lot to do with this part of the team. I don't think some people understand what a HC is, and don't know the difference between a HC, GM, owner , and a HC/GM. We have a HC....not a HC/GM, or a HC/GM/Owner.

This way of thinking blows my mind. You can't on one hand give Tomlin credit for a 6-4 record despite a bad offence without also holding him responsible for the bad offence. Tomlin is the coach. He is responsible for the horrific offence we have.

We have incredible playmakers on both sides of the ball. We haven't overachieved at all. If anything, we've underachieved. We've been a really, really bad team and have relied on a couple splash plays at the right time in order to scrape by. We haven't actually beat anyone due to playing good football. That is on the coach.

Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence

"Just something to consider: In 2017, the New York Giants had produced just 16.0 points per game (27th) through the first five weeks. Head coach Ben McAdoo turned to Sullivan as the play caller. And from Week 6 to the end of the season, they were last in the league with 13.6 points per game."

I just watched the Bus with Ben on YT. About a month ole a lot of fun, one thing he said after deciding to come back in 2005. They had a good team, but started out lousy. Cowher came into the locker room and wiped the board clean, everything was now open, the coach's and coordinators started doing things they actually did not want or like to do. We know what happened. Now this team is not 2005, but as Head coach if you do not recognize the problems and set out to make the change, well if nothing changes, then nothing will change.

Not particularly unless it’s permanent and he has a whole off season to work with

Otherwise he can’t suddenly change the 3 page playbook now

Unless there really is a page 4 or more but I have my doubts

I'm holding out hope that they let these guys play football the way they know how to play football. So much wasted time breaking down guys who have played 10 years or more and trying to get them into the playbook form. If these last 7 are throwaway games then just let them play.

I think about Landry Jones and Mason Rudolph, guys who spent their entire college careers playing from the shotgun and spread formation and yet Pittsburgh drafted them and tried to remake them into pro style, pocket passers that take snaps under center. Ben gets hurt for multiple games over multiple seasons and they still tried to take two guys who would have been better playing to their strengths(spread formation shotgun) into stay in the pocket and be like Ben. Let them play the way they know how.

That’s because he plays in his fears. Even on defense we do now. You see teams like KC running exotic blitzes etc. The Steelers got away from that. It’s the same vanilla 4 man rush. That season Ben got hurt really sparked something in Tomlin where it became all about keeping the game close, not taking any risks and don’t turn the ball over. It us the most boring brand of football.

it’s like watching a UFC fight for 15 minutes where the guys just stand there and dance afound the ring for 14 minutes and 30 seconds and then the last 30 seconds they start to throw wild punches hoping for a knockout.

I still think Tomlin can be a good coach in the right circumstance but I’m just ready for change. It’s just gotten old and stale. If we could trade him for a couple of firsts and go get a legit franchise QB I think it should be considered.

At least you named names. You're wrong of course, but you named them. Just because you realize that being Schleprock and wanking about Tomlin in every thread doesn't make you an apologist.
