Fields would probably be costly and he is limited as a passer. I would pass. Minshew would be a nice option to compete with Pickett. Cousins is going to want big money and he will be coming off a major injury at 36 years old. No thank you.

He didn't forget anything. It is what it is the first season. Next year I expect an almost 180.

They were fine until they started playing PAC 10 teams that played any resemblance of defense and then they couldn't overcome the size of the front lines of those teams. It was the first season so it was highly expected. I expect both offense and defensive lines both to improve drastically come next year. Shedeur has already won several prestigious awards while in the SWAC, has a NIL agreement out the wazoo, and has thrown for 27 TDs and 3 INTs so far this season, and should be a top 5 pick (minimum) when he chooses to come out next year. I would say he's doing just fine while being a part of his dad's program. Any hopes of going to a bowl game are over so I would shut him down the rest of the season as anticipated. There's nothing to gain from playing the rest of the games and Shedeur isn't coming out this year and scouts have seen enough game tape to know what he's capable of even he was to change his mind about it.

Minshew can stay where he's at (he's not that much of an upgrade over what they currently have) and you can pay Cousins what he wants for 2-3 seasons because you know he will deliver. The days of paying these QBs outrageous contracts are over. Cousins has to understand this, along with his age and the injury. He'll also want to play for a team thats 2 or 3 players from being a real contender, besides himself, and i believe that will be the Steelers assuming they hire a competent OC.

I'll take a 80% Cousins over what we currently have any day of the week and twice on Sunday. It could turn into a bidding war, but the Steelers aren't paying anybody on offense right now and still have 2 years left on players before they may have to pay a couple (Pickens, Warren). Cousins has made enough money over his career that I believe he will sacrifice some pay in exchange for putting enough players around him that he can create a legacy with. If he asks for more then 3 seasons you pass, but only because you know Father Time is undefeated and you should hopefully have drafted someone who was able to sit behind him and learn by that time. I don't think the Bears are going to let Fields go. They'll pay him just enough that other teams will choose to pass because he's still got enough questions you just don't know.

Cousins is coming off a major injury and he will be 36 years old, but you think we know he will deliver for two or three seasons. Um, okay.

Better than what the Steelers have now is a low bar and it is going to take more to be worth what Cousins is going to want.

Yeah, I do....have athletes not come back from achilles tendon injuries?? I guess that's your answer. Aaron Rodgers has the same injury and is three years older. You think the Jets are crazy to wait on him also??

That isn't a question. The Jets have to wait on him. The deal is done already, but I bet they wouldn't do it again if they had a do over. JMO.

Rodgers is already under contract with the Jets. Of course they are going to wait for him. They don't currently have a quarterback that can play, and Aaron Rodgers is already on the team.

The Steelers would have to go out and get a 36 year old QB coming off of a major injury that was playing on another team.

It's not even close to being the same.

They wouldn't do it again because why? Are you saying achilles tendon injuries only happens to older players??

No ....I'm saying....that the older You are(from experience) the easier it is to repeat injuries....you don't get healthier the older , and longer You play...also that isn't even bringing in that they brought in the OC, and many other players for Him.

What do you mean its not close to being the same? The fact one is under contract and one is not is irrelevant. What's relevant is do you think either QB is effective enough to lead their teams to a SB if healthy??...that's what relevant. It wouldn't matter to the Jets if Aaron Rodgers was under contract or not. Is he capable of still being top 10 in.the league?? If they thought he was capable of leading them to a SB they would nab him. If you say they're skillset has greatly diminished prior to the injuries then i understand, but that's not what you said. So what are you talking about??

There's nothing wrong with building a team around a QB if it's worked in the past. The contract is only for 2 years. You guys are acting like its a lifetime deal.

I never implied they don't come back from Achilles tendon injuries, but as people age, they recover more slowly and less completely. Also, Cousins suffered his injury at the end of October, not the beginning of September, so he is less likely to be fully ready in time for training camp. Also also, Cousins ain't Rodgers. Not even close.

The Jets don't have a choice. They have Rodgers under contract with a big cap hit. They also made a massive investment in him before the injury. You are asking the Steelers to make an investment after one.

Rodgers was off crutches at the beginning of November. Clearly times and technology have changed. To say that Cousins is not on the same level (not even close) is ridiculous. To say that actually means you're contradicting your own argument to say that a older QB cant be highly effective, because Kirk Cousins was top 10 every positive category prior to his injury. If you have a QB putting up the numbers he was putting why wouldnt you consider him for 2-3 years. I'm not talking anything beyond that. I think it would be foolish not to consider. You can put it in the contract where the 2nd or third year is team optional if you're that concerned about the injury. Where do you see slouch in these numbers??

    2023 stats: 7 games | 68.9 pct | 2,057 pass yds | 7.3 ypa | 16 pass TD | 5 INT | 16 rush yds | 0 rush TD | 7 fumbles

How do you not realize that their contract status is relevant. The Jets don't have a choice about waiting on Rodgers. They traded draft picks, including a swap of first-rounders and giving up a second-rounder, this year and made a financial commitment to Rodgers. They are stuck with that deal whether they want to wait on him or not.

Bengals, Browns, Ravens ....and potentially any other team have entered into the chat. TJ Watt could be gone and it could be end of season. You can't predict or worry about injuries. If you do you'll be playing in your fears as they say.

Because it's not relevant when it's 1 or 2 years...not 4 or 5 years. I already said twice now they would still go after him even if he were not under contract. What part of that don't you understand???

That Rodgers was able to take that route doesn't mean Cousins can. You are assuming the injuries are identical and that the procedures used to treat them are identical.

Cousins, over the course of his career, is not close to Rodgers. I'm sorry you don't know that.

I didn't contradict anything in my argument. Please don't misrepresent what I wrote in such a manner. I didn't write that older quarterbacks can't be highly effective. I wrote that as people get older, they recover more slowly and less completely from injuries. Please work on your reading comprehension.

I thought Cousins was still good this season, though five interceptions and seven fumbles in seven games isn't great, but we don't know what he will be after that injury. We don't know what Rodgers will be, either. Foot injuries can **** up everything else, especially when you are older.

It is relevant to the decision-making process. The Jets have made the investment in Rodgers. They are stuck with him for next season unless he retires. The Steelers have a choice regarding Cousins. I'm not saying you don't consider it, but I see it as highly unlikely and a risk that probably isn't worth taking for the cost.

We're not talking about the course of their careers moron...work on your reading and comprehension. I'm talking about as of late and really I believe would have been the case this year. The gap is not as a great as you portray it to be. We can compare numbers if you dare to do so. I completely understand age can cause limitations. I wasnt happy with the Steelers keeping Ben around as long as they did for 3 years longer then they should have, but these two quarterbacks have shown a lot more then Ben did prior to his last 3 years.

Depending on where we end up in the draft C, SS or CB are the immediate needs. Yes we need to address RT, we have 2 young guys and perhaps you can sign a dependable aging FA and draft if you think someone is there. The talk has been 5 possible 6 QB's getting 1st wound grades, just on history 2 of those guys might pan out. Unless we score another 2nd rounder can use that to move up of someone they really like drops, it doesn't seem likely you reach for a QB.

I think you have to look long and hard at who is available in FA, there usually is not much, but bringing in decent depth to push KP and possible taking over for a stretch is the ultimate challenge. If you get the line fixed, have a scheme that utilizes your strengths (despite what we have seen, we do have O weapons), a game manager can get you headed in the right direction.

Well that's all I'm saying is consider it. Could their be better options? I don't know. I feel like he would be suitable for someone to sit behind and learn from and he looks like he would be the best available free agent going into next year. Steelers aren't going to be giving up or swapping draft picks like the Jets so for those of us worried about that issue it doesn't exist. The stakes are a lot lower for the Steelers then the Jets and they can use the Jets situation as leverage in negotiations.

I'll throw a name out, probably get blasted be so what lmao. Sam Darnold is paid 4.5 (3.5 guaranteed) this year on a one year deal. Yes he was a bust as a 2nd overall pick, but look who he played for..jets and Carolina. Not saying he is any ones answer, but I would definitely be calling his agent.

Did you see history of the guy who is starting for them this week. I heard it on Dan Patrick and did not confirm, but he reportedly threw 1 td and 7 int's for Conneticut, how in the hell do you even get an invite for a tryout? lol
