I have been critical of Art II but he made the decision to can Matt Canada. Thank you Mr. Rooney maybe this is the start of bigger things to come!

Now's your chance. Send in your CV for the open OC position. After all, YOU know football better than the pros, right?

Sounds like Art did it. Good! It was pretty clear the locker room had had enough. The players bitching publicly seems like that last straw.

AR is not just an owner. He is President. Tomlin and Khan report to him. He has final say in player acquisition including draft picks. He has not delegated football operations.

So we can’t penalize Cowher for not drafting a good QB but we penalize Tomlin for his draft picks? Cowher had some real first round duds during his tenure.

You won't get any argument from me about Canada. It was a stupid move of legendary proportion to allow Canada to remain on the payroll after the final whistle of 2022.
But the owner has to respect his people in place and their decisions.
But they keynote is, it's obvious those decisions failed.

Art doesn't have that 'A' type personality. Even 'The Chief' really didn't either.
I think Post-Ben, the entire organization needs to rethink things.
Ben forced Canada's garbage to work, even though his skills declined.
It was a horrific decision to allow Canada anywhere near your rookie QB - really, any QB for that matter.

Art or AR, still must respect the decisions of those he put in place to make those decisions.
I don't know that I want Art making football decisions, I prefer him hiring folks to do that.
I don't disagree with the mob mentality, everyone is accountable here, but accountability needs to be properly assigned.
Art absolutely needs to have a conversation with his folks.
They also probably need to push back on the idea that honoring contracts is BS when the employee sucks.

Because they have as many superbowls as anyone, haven’t picked in the top 10 since Bradshaw and have an amazing fan base. Terrible? What do you consider great?

True. But this was Tomlins decision to keep him. Finality enough was enough and Art II stepped in and fired Canada. I wonder if Tomlin was on board?
Maybe some more shake ups to come.

The draft were so much better with Cowher especially at the time he had Colbert as GM back in 2000.....His first round picks were great for every year, outside of 2002 but even Simmons was still a good player when healthy. But overall, the Steelers were more often a super bowl contender under Cowher than was the case with Tomlin....We'll see if Tomlin will stuck too long with Pickett for no good reason.....It's true that Cowher stayed with Kordell for too long but he still had a great season in 1997 and he could run, so he had his moments...Pickett hasn't shown us anything so far so it wouldn't be acceptable if he's still our starter in 2024.Of course, Rooney deserves a lot more heat than that for the situation of the Steelers...I don't know who made the final decision to keep Canada for another year, but it was ridiculous from the start!

Does Tomlin have any clue as to what to do? He has kept hack lousy coordinators around for years - time and time again. We really do need a top down coaching house cleaning. Hoping it all happens soon.

    Well Canada is now gone.
I'm not 100% buying in on Tomlin's decision, he always seems to force a defense of Canada as any would do.
I think Khan and Art and that entire front office should bear some of that blame... it was soooooooooooooooooooooooo wrong to allow Canada back.

The Steelers have only 3 playoff wins since 2011, which is less than the Houston Texans....This is bad....

Tomlin has drafted more pro bowlers in the first round than Cowher, not counting Broderick Jones who will end up being a pro bowler eventually. Cowher also has more first round busts.

Dallas hasn’t been to a big game for 26 years. The Bills, Bears, Dolphins and others haven’t been there either. I’m not saying there are not problems, but as a whole you cannot make the case that they have been terrible and certainly not compare us to the Texans. we could not break through the TB 12 wall. The Texans lost their way into decent teams by having 2-14 seasons and drafting most of the talent the Browns and Jets didn’t get.

The Steelers lost to Tom Brady and the Pats only once in the playoffs under Tomlin

And yes, I know that other team that you named struggle too but since 2017, the Steelers are only one of 10 or 11 teams that has not won a playoff game since that time

In all the mess, I've lost who/what you are so feverishly defending? It seems like you are more than willing to spill your guts on the peaks of Mt. Tomlin, but I'm just making sure.
