Call me crazy but is there really anyone in the upcoming QB Class that can assist at this point in time?! I do concur with @Jball@Jball that a QB needs to be in consideration after this season. That said, there are not a lot of options that can immediately assist the Steelers not named Drake Maye or Caleb Williams. This isn't to say the 2024 Class is bad; quite good in fact and much better than the previous two classes.

I just don't think the long term answer is in the draft. If he is, that will require a new OC as that presumed OC will have his own way of calling plays and will need a specific type of QB; something that will be happening anyhow. Other than that, perhaps a trade?!

Not Kyler Murray obviously. Way too big a cap hit. What about Justin Fields?! Sounds very, very risky I know but he has shown far greater flashes of high quality play in comparison to Pickett... the first three Quarters anyways.

Unless KP dramatically changes we are going to be in the conundrum of offense and defense falling apart at different times. We begin to fix offense, center, right tackle, DB and maybe a QB and then that take a season or two to get right and now the defense ages out. We havent historically had the big spend in free agency so we could be in for the dreaded 80's 90's offensive **** show.

I know im going to get bashed for saying this… but if Spencer Rattler is available in 3 round I would take him over all the qbs you mentioned. Just my personal opinion.

He's had a pretty good bounce back season. He wouldn't be my first choice but hey, he has some tools and was once thought of as maybe a top QB. I would accept that as they were actually trying.

They need a center. That should be their first-round choice. They also need another tackle. Dan Moore stinks. Like someone else pointed out, they've been running the ball decent recently. They need to fix the pass protection. They need new coordinators. Not retreads from within. They need to do a comprehensive search. Tomlin needs to get over his need to be the benevolent dictator.

I'm pretty certain Pickett isn't the guy, so they need to find some competition for him in camp via free agency. It would be a huge mistake in my opinion to head into next season with Pickett the de facto starter. Maybe they could pick up a project QB in the fourth and get lucky.

Playing behind a bad offensive line that is missing 6 OLM.

I'm as down on Pickett as the next guy but if they were to draft a QB before filling other large holes in this roster, I would lose my sh!t.
Fill those holes in the draft and hopefully replace some of the coaching staff. If they're not comfortable with Mason or Trubs, cut them loose and sign a dude who can really push Pickett. Pickett needs to go into next season trying to prove he should start, not thinking it's just being handed to him. Use the season for the vet QB(or Pickett) to get used to the new coordinator, along with any additions to the o-line. See where they're at, at the end of the season, and go get a QB if necessary.
Simply cannot risk a high draft pick on a QB who can just as easily be a bust, two years after doing that very thing.

They may have to take a bigger swing in Free Agency

He has led CFB in passing yards for the last two years.

Yeah .... I know...but there is more to watching Him than passing yards. It's the forcing passes that he gets away with in college....that he won't in the NFL....that gets Me about him.....it's what I liked so much about CJ...was not his arm, but He hardly made a bad read. That what I try to watch when looking at the College Qbs. Not stats...because a lot can put them up in college. I like to watch how many times they shouldn't have done something. If that makes any sense. Oh , and left handed Qbs scare me. LoL

Kenny isn’t going anywhere so I really like your idea of signing someone to compete

I won't bash you for it. I will say that take is about three years out of date.

IMO we'll probably be drafting 15-18....again.....so a QB is going to be off the table. I don't like this QB class and the only QB I would be interested in is Drake Maye. He'll be out of our reach. They aren't throwing KP in the trash after two years any way.

I think ILB, C, DL, and DB should be the highest priorities, IMHO.

Agree. This is where we started putting together an OL via K Mart blue light special technique and when that didn't work, they thought getting a RB in the first round was solid strategy. Then it turns out a UDFA is actually better than their #1 pick. This is one of so many issues for so long that the organization needs an enema and fresh ideas. JMO>

Penix doesn't throw a lot of interceptions though, nobody throws a better deep ball in CFB than Penix, there has been some good left handed QBs:
    Stabler
    Brunell
    Esiason
    Young

Lots of conundrums, starting with the coaching staff itself. Are there any position coaches worth keeping besides Kevin Faulkner and our OLB/Edge coach, and we already know that Austin and Canada likely wont be back?

TJ Watt conundrum... this team likely isn't going to compete at until 2025/2026. Yeah sure, they'll have 9/10 win seasons, but truly compete I think not. So yeah, by then TJ is at the twilight of his career, so do you trade him to acquire draft capital to fill other needs: WR, S, CB, OT, C, DL and QB, or ride him out because he's a legend? I honestly don't know the best solution here. I prefer to keep him myself, it's just the bigger picture screams otherwise. The Steelers at the very least need cap space to acquire a QB to challenge Kenny for the job. So Watt at the very least needs a restructure to get that done.

I'll circle back to Tomlin. This definitely feels like the perfect time for both sides to move on. The staff as a whole isn't worthwhile to retain and it makes perfect sense for a fresh set of eyes to rebuild the staff. And if I'm Tomlin, would I really want to truly start anew in Pittsburgh with a fresh staff and YUGE question marks at the QB position with a ton of holes elsewhere?

I consider this season a loss and next year as well. I just want to see some semblance of an identity being established before 2025, as well as progression, units as well as individually.

Shadeur, more so his dad, already determined that he would be back around week 4 or 5. They were certain Caleb Williams would get #1 draft pick even then and wanted to assure when Shader came out he would be #1.

Getting away from Dad’s program may be the best thing for Shadeur

They need to make coaching changes before any roster changes will even matter. Beyond that, keep building the OL and get another CB in the draft. They should be able to add a couple of good players in FA. I also like the idea of calling Chicago and asking about Fields but I'd certainly not give a 1st. Cousins and Minshew are FA options to bring in. There are many options that lead to a contending team in 2024 and especially 2025 but not if the clown show on the sideline continues.
