I don’t like Canada just to be clear before some dumb**** misses the point

We blame Canada for a poor offense and particularly the lack of development of KSP

But we actually have a quarterback coach named Mike Sullivan

What is he doing and why is he free of blame

    Inquiring minds want to know

I miss Todd Haley as an OC. As a person he was kind of a jackass but he had some good plays at the right time.

Good question. I would say that anyone attached to the offense deserves part of
    the blame for it's ineptitude.

The OC is always the villain, you can’t blame the QB and they never fire the HC. Canada is hated, so was Fichtner. Haley had to go (hated by Ben, Tequilla Cowboy), Arians “retired” - too chummy with Ben and getting him killed, he managed to eke out a decent post Steeler career. Kevin Gilbride, Ray Sherman, Ron Earnhardt, Joe Walton. The departure of each and every one was a generally or enthusiastically supported by the fan base. I predict the next OC will have the same fate.

So what’s the point? ;)

Actually, I heard earlier this week (maybe on DK’s podcast) that there is growing discontentment with Sullivan within the Steelers organization. Shouldn’t surprise anyone given Pickett’s regression this season.

I haven't found any info on Sullivan's contract with the Steelers. That said, I wouldn't be shocked if he is jettisoned in 2024 either. He is as guilty for not properly coaching Kenny on the basics as Canada has been for... whatever the hell that scheme is game in and game out; sans the previous two.

i think we can throw glenn thomas in this conversation as well. of course the common denominator in this is kenny. who's to say they are not making a difference in kenny? maybe it could be worse. we are blaming 3 different coaches actually more than that but it still falls back to the pupil. we could change coaches every year and not have any upside. how are mason and mitch doing with these guys? it's been half a year now. have these coaches improved them at all?

Hence why you clean house with the whole current offensive coaching staff, an innovative mind is hired who brings in his own staff.

Anyone with some brains knows that Tomlin will get a contract extension. More rinse and repeat. Unless they turn up the offense production in both phases.

You keep Tomlin at bay and let Khan, Weidl and Art II make the final decision.

Leftwich would be another puppet and really why is he still unemployed? And begging to become the Steelers OC. Yea hard pass!

But alas if this team gets to a winning season and possible post season I feel unfortunately that the grand wazoo will get a contract extension. And then we will argue some more.

As far a Sullivan is concerned lets remember the the grand wazoo was the QB coach before unfortunately becoming the OC. Not giving Sullivan a pass but maybe he is becoming just a body and being phased out by the wazoo.

Pickett needs to get better. But I wonder if he is just being handcuffed to making the plays that are called and not being allowed to improvise or go through progressions. He is not reading the field well for sure at times. But then the 4th quarter comes and WHAT? Even Tomlin has said they let the leash off in the 4th. Maybe Pickett isn't it. But I would like to see with a competent offensive mind if this can be rectified.

The offensive line is coming together in the running attack. Jones has made a difference. They sure need to work on their pass protection though. Gonna need to throw sooner or later when teams shut down the running attack.

Every offensive coach has blame here....
I actually wondered what Sullivan's role was when Canada came down from the booth.....
    He's kind of obsolete now

It really comes down to who does what with whom, and who compiles and coordinates the info into a dynamic scheme, that then is coached to the individuals who put that scheme into action. Inspite of some infrequent drives, we really have failed to see any real improvement from the top down, including players. Granted Jones gets on the field, not in the position he was drafted for and the running game improves, but is that Jones alone, or some magnificent discovery from the coaching staff that something we have been doing has not worked, so let's do it different?

No report or story is going to tell the whole truth, but what we see shows a complete lack of professional NFL offense, for 3 years, this is more than one QB, more than one set of O linemen, different receivers, some different position coaches. Two individuals are the same, MT and Canada.

Buffalo and Pess State fired individuals for lack of offensive performance, sometimes they are literal scapegoats, but here no one has been fired, excuses are rampant about KP, O line, receivers, blah blah. Again 2 individuals at the top of the chain remain the same, and the results for the last several years are the same or worse.

A good start would be getting the QB to get rid of the football and understanding an incomplete pass is much better than an 8 yd loss on a sack.
