Trenton Thompson told the media he will be starting at safety against the Browns FWIW, Neal is most likely out.

That could be a disaster. He is not good and that is four starters missing from the middle of the defense. Expect more ugly defensive breakdowns and blown coverages.

We don't know if DTR is a threat in the passing game, I heard it mentioned he's starting because of his running ability to take advantage of Watt and Highsmith rushing upfield.

That is another reason they will miss Neal, who is a strong run defender.

DTR is going to be taking off and running every chance he gets with us being completely gutted down the middle of our D. We barely hang on against crappy teams with a healthy defense, this isn't going to be easy by any means... not that it ever is for the Steelers.

Exactly. The Neal injury is huge, if only because they are already hurting so much up the middle.

They better not let this backup PJ look like a Pro bowler

True but the Browns know Walker nor DTR are the answer. They are looking for veteran help and Joe Flacco

keep a SPY on him, he can break our back scrambling.

Get ready to MAN UP at corner. 8 in the box (including the spy). no way he can beat us thru the air....

they will WANT him to run A LOT!

Maybe they should bring in Johnny Manziel.
I hear he was a 1st round pick, and he had 8 starts for the Browns, so he should be somewhat familiar with their offense.

Tomlin is 24-5 against rookie QB in his career. And the Browns QB today is not C.J Stroud too!

Manning up against a running QB puts your CBs’ backs to the QB so that they often will not see when he scrambles until he’s broken contain. I’d mix in some Cover zero or Cover 1 blitz with the corners playing man, but I would mostly run a mix of zone defenses, especially showing one zone look pre-snap and dropping to a different zone look at the snap, which can be kryptonite for a young QB. Of course that may be too complicated for our depleted and inexperienced safeties and LBs.

If their strategy is to start DTR to go run heavy, including QB, that begs the question whether Porter should start or if we should go with a better tackling CB for this game only?
