Nice theory, but it has happened before. Officials have just had to own up to the fact that the whistle blew too early because they initially thought it was an incomplete pass.

No, but he didn't try to avoid him, either. In fact, he stuck his shoulder in the guy's chest, which was his mistake. All he had to do was stop and stand in the guy's way and Pickens gets open for the game-clinching reception without a penalty.

Agreed…I thought once the whistle was blown the play was dead…which in turn wouldn’t give Warren a chance to recover. Makes me wonder if the whistle impacted New Yorks decision

True. When I first saw the play, I thought it was a bad call because the defender almost seemed to come down into Austin's path.

After seeing the replay and thinking about it, Austin should have avoided it or just stopped as you said. He didn't have to stick his shoulder into him, so I understand the penalty.

It is possible, but I have seen officials have to admit the error and just give the offensive team the ball where the fumble was lost.

Yes they need to let the play keep going, they can always change the call after replay but like you said they are quick to blow the whistle when they shouldn't have.

If you rule an incomplete pass, you blow the whistle. Ref made the right call on the field.

I mean I get that but the only reason they were that close was the missed facemask right off the snap. So you call both and at least it's offsetting and not 3rd-19.

Yes. It was a lateral. Kenny throws the ball from between the 9 and 10 yard lines and warren attempts to catch it between the 8 and 9 yard lines.

I understand. I was just commenting on the pass part of it and how it was called.

    Have You watched that again??
The Packers player looks like intentionally directed himself into Him because He was beat. If You haven't...go look at the video I shared that shows it towards the very end of the video.

    Sour grapes.

I'm sure Tomlin said something about blowing the whistle and not letting his guy a chance to go after it. If they reverse that they open another can of worms..

    These pictures are perfect

They prove it was a lateral

Particularly if you understand geometry and camera angle which apparently many do not

Seattle fans had the same problem with Ben’s SB touchdown

it was a lateral, the refs BLEW it, and if it had happened to us, this board would be screaming BLOODY MURDER

Not sure what you’re looking at but it’s clearly not a lateral. I see what NY sees and it’s very obvious. You have to look at the location of the ball when released.

Nope, you have to look at the ball location and not the player. The league saw the same thing.

just so you know the NYP is a tabloid. Once again the ball is thrown from between the 9 and 10 and the attempted reception between the 8 and 9. That is a backwards pass also known as a lateral

Perfect pair of pictures taken from same camera so same angle to account for

    Indubitably a backward pass/lateral/fumble

Watt was mugged on one play where the offensive lineman was around his neck and his back was arched. The zebras are untouchable. They can do whatever they want, make mistakes, change games and then if so a call effects the outcome of the game at the end the league sends a "Were sorry" we got the call wrong letter signed by Goodell. Its league wide not just against us. Not only do you have to fight the opposing team but also the Teflon Zebras.
