Steelers. Not as bad as you think.

These next 2 weeks are going to be painfully clear for those that wear rose colored glasses for KFP
Well, KFP dodged a bullet with Watson out for rest of the season. Steelers have a chance to win this game!

 

Yeah, kind of looks like KC in the AFC, then a step or two down for the rest.

Don`t really follow the NFC. Used to think 49ers too, but now less sure.

 

Im shocked but not shocked by the usual fanboys defense of KP. They do the same thing with MT when I get on him about the lack of playoff success. KPs play is so glaringly terrible I don’t understand how anyone with 1 iota of football knowledge could argue it. He doesn’t throw picks because well he doesn’t make any difficult throws period. He has 4 INTs but only 6 TDs. That is pathetic through 9 games. For his career he has 13 TDs and 13 INTs. Statistically since he has been a Steelers starter he is one of the worst QBs in the league. Blame MC or the scheme or them asking him to game manage but any way you slice it there is nothing he does that even remotely says this guy can be special.

He started out by throwing only one TD and having 8 picks. After the bye last year he has 12 TD's and only 5 interceptions and it is no coincidence that they are 13-5 during that stretch. He is doing what the coaching staff wants him do, not turning the ball over and winning football games. Do I think that he is an amazing QB? Heck no but he has no ego and is perfectly willingly to do what the coaching staff tells him to do.

 

I'll take it however it may come. If every starting Qb is out before We play them for the rest of the year....it wouldn't bother Me a bit. LoL

 

I mean if they can win playoff games like this sign me up!

 

I think we can beat the clowns. We need some turnovers. Kenny needs to protect the ball. Run jaylen and Harris. Win the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.and pray!

There are so many more important things for God to concern Himself with.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't care if the Steelers win. It's only a game that's important to certain silly humans!

 

I wholeheartedly stand behind that statement. The point is it HAS to come down to Herbert, not because he is not a competent QB but because his defense/team sucks. Most games he HAS to score 27-30 points or more to even have a chance at winning the game. He throws for 350 yards, 3TD, scores 27 points.... and the team loses because they give up 430 yards and 33 points. Then he gets crucified because he couldn't lead yet another scoring drive at the end when 27 points should have been more than enough to handily win the game. If he had our defense, the games wouldn't have to be decided on the last drive very often... he'd just win the game by 2 scores or with our defense on the field.

The literal only reason why Kenny gets to lead comeback wins is because the defense has kept his sorry a$$ in the game long enough to have a chance. Then he gets hot on the final drive and we win the game 16-13. If Kenny had anything other than this defense the past 17 games he'd have only a small handful of wins and we would be talking about kicking him to the curb asap. If we had the Charger's defense we'd probably be a 3-4 win team in that same span.

Think about it... KFP led teams have scored 19 ppg since the bye last year. We are 12-5 in those games. That's crazy good from the defensive perspective. Especially when you factor in that we possess the ball offensively in 2023 for less time than all NFL teams but New England and Seattle. I agree that it matters WHEN you do it to an extent, but it also matters HOW. Kenny's wins have largely been ugly. Herbert wins in spite of his defense, Kenny wins because of his.

 

That's why I said.the prayer won't go higher the the ceiling.

What you didn't say was KFP has actually lead His team on last drives to win....Like I said a Qb can actually throw 2 td in the 1st half a game, and only throw 1 int in the 2nd half of a game every other game, and have 34 tds, and only 8, or 9 ints, but didn't help, but hurt His team, but if You look at the stats 34 tds, and 9 ints....You say wow...it must be on the other parts of the team. I say this a billion times. It's not what You do, but when You do it. I Like the Kid, but can You honestly say He hasn't had opportunities to win games at the end ????
Also the more Your team scores forces the other team to throw caution into the wind....anyway I agree to disagree.

 

What about us people who aren't ready to give up on KP (I guess you'd call that making excuses) but also think that Mason got a raw deal.
Why is it that if you continue to support KP, you're automatically assumed to have been calling for Mason's head?

So who are all these fanboys? I see a lot of members of this board who are completely over Pickett. I see the members who had a "wait and see" approach starting to lose considerable patience, myself included. Hell, just the other day I said I really don't think he can be what the Steelers need him to be and my confidence was extremely low.
So again, other than this Goldbunny character, who are all these fanboys?

 

Part of KP's lack of stats is that he hasn't had to put up big stats to win. If the Steelers defense was as terrible as the Chargers then he would have to throw the ball every down and have a lot more yards (and interceptions). As long as the Steelers are within one score his instructions are play it safe, don't turn the ball over, don't take risks until the end of the game when he has to.

I always said the 6th sense took their idea from the Necroscope.

 

It is true that Kenny had done a good job at the end of games getting the score the team needs. But a QB that scores 26 PPG helps his team more than a QB that scores 19 PPG, no matter what time of game they score.

I'm not saying that Herbert is clutch or the best QB or anything. Its just that if he had the defense that Kenny has had since the bye last year, then Herbert wouldn't HAVE to win the game on the last drive... he would already have it won because he scored 17 points and our defense isn't going to give that many up. In the same vein Kenny wouldn't have the opportunities to have those game winning drives if we didn't have a really good defense. The game would be over by the 4th quarter and we would be down too many points for him to pull off another win.

At the end of the day, points are points no matter when they are scored. It's nice that Kenny can put together a good drive in the 4th quarter when we need it, but it would also be nice for him to score at other points in the game too so he doesn't always have to eke out another low scoring win. We're good on agreeing to disagree anyways. You and I always have good back and forth and we see eye to eye on some and not at all on others. All good. I enjoy the debate.
