Well you know what their philosophy is gonna be. "Take the best player available" when you can. So let's hope like everything it's either a RB or a CB BOTH TIMES because if not we are gonna be hurting for a corner. I would love for us to get a smart football player instead of just a dumb jock with physical abilities. Someone like Ed Reed but at corner. Yeah I know you would pretty much have to create a robot to get that but a guy can FANTASIZE right???

I think the secondary is shaping up nice. Lewis, Cortez, Ike, Clark, even Troy looked like his old self last game but I know we can't count on him to stay healthy for a whole season, he's going to have to prove he can before he gets that benefit of the doubt again. I'm not saying not to draft a CB, I just wouldn't do it in the 1st round, I still say the line takes priority, after all, defense isn't what held us back this year.

SBD Tyrann Mathieu.??? I do not want this guy in Pittsburgh. He is a druggie just like santurdio is
AND neither of them will quit. When they are not hurt they are suspended

But the week spot in our D has been the corners is my reason for this line of thinking. Also Ike is very much on the downside of his career and you know I aint no Ike fan anyway because he can't catch herpes. Obviously RYAN Clark was money in the middle and noone was running on us. I think our corners must be slow or something because why in the crap did DL have them playing so far off the WR? That infuriates me when I see that. It makes me wonder if our guys are too slow to effectively cover in the NFL. That's my main beef with the corners we have now. But you know me I'm hoping we find the next Mel Blount! LOL.

Yeah but if we have a shot to get a guy and let him wait in the wings and lock him away for hours in a dark room with a projector and sew his eyes open and FORCE him to watch HOURS of Mel Blount and Rod Woodson would you THEN be on board with my suggestion? LOL.

I would think A safety would be high on the list of needs
as would a pass rushing DE/OLB, ILB, LT,RB,QB. People
we have a lot of needs to be able to compete against the top
echelon teams. With our salary cap problems, and Big question marks
at the safety, and OLB positions along with LT positions The Steelers
should be ultra aggressive in their aquiring of talent, if not there will be
no Superbowl plans in our immediate future. JMHO.

it's simple why they played off so far. they have to support the run as well as cover receivers. our two OLB'ers have been hurt all year. foote while getting in on alot of tackles make them 5 yards down field. timmons has other duties then just run support because again foote is aweful at it. clark has played well early but later in the year he's kind of disappeared, mostly because they are using him to help in coverage. they need a better backup cb at some point in the draft. safety has to be a priority. matt elam for me is our most logical choice at #1. good at all phases of the position and young.

I agree that the secondary seemed to shape up nicely this year. I have some reservations about next year though. My concern doesn't lie with the young guys at corner, but rather our safeties. Ryan and Troy performed well this year, but I wonder how much affect being a year older will have on them next season (eventually age catches all of us).

I'm hoping they defy all the "they're too old" naysayers yet again.

How does this team get back to the Superbowl?

I'll do it. Just hire me as head coach, I'll put the coordinators up in the booth where they can monitor the game day thread. When yinz call for a blitz, we blitz. When yinz want to run on 3rd and 1, we run. When yinz want to pass on 3rd and one, we pass, but no empty sets on 3rd and short. Championship!

Wait, I've read some of the posts here. More like 0-19 and you'd be fired at half time of game 3.
