how was that NOT a backward pass at the end of the half yesterday?

man, does Kenny just suck sometimes. We had a nice lead and he just puckers.

it was putrid, both the CALL by Canaduh! and the AWFUL throw by Kenny.

it was a backward pass, we dodge a 3 or 7 point bullet for sure.

refs must have been on the take!

When the ref said that the play stands, I was mystified

Yeah, they blew that call twice. First, they blew the whistle too quickly, so the Packers weren't getting the ball no matter what the outcome of the replay. Then they upheld the original call. At the very least, it should have been a fumble and the Steelers get the ball where Warren dropped it, which would have been a loss.

it actually was much closer to straight across then first thought. the more i watched from where he threw it to where it bounced off of warrens hands was close. look at the yard lines. very close.

We got a break there, I think the big problem was the Referee blew the play dead almost right away. When he blows the whistle the play is dead.

Had it been over turned that would of been a big huge issue that way I think.

But awful throw by Kenny, was way behind Warren.

Most people look at where the players body is rather than where his hand releases the ball. This type of call is very similar to a safety call or an over the line of scrimmage pass. They always call them very conservatively. Nothing new here, most people that look at it don’t know the game too well.

Watching it live, I thought it was going to be a turnover. Maybe we will hear more about the ref review later.

The last I heard was there just wasn`t enough evidence to overturn. Best evidence would be overhead camera view directly centered over the play.

Which is why I have no idea how any objective fan can whine repeatedly about holding or the PI call. The lateral call was a far bigger call than any others which totally changes the game.

If that is the case, then it shouldn't have been reviewed.

I think if the whistle hadn't blown and it was a live ball on the field Warren would have recovered it. He was going after it at first but then he kind of let up when the refs blew the whistle and ran over waving it an incomplete pass.

It was one call. Watt and Benton were getting mugged all game long. The PI call against Austin was costly, but correct. The missed PI when the defender grabbed Johnson before halftime cost the Steelers a field goal. There were bad calls both ways, but there were plenty that had a big impact like the pass/lateral call. They were mostly calls that should have been easier to see than whether Pickett's throw went backward or not.

He released it at the 9 and it was touched at the 9. That’s a forward pass. Call was correct, and even if you don’t agree, it was far too close to overturn. Look at the ball, not his feet.

I just took a second and third look at it and you're correct it was a forward pass by just a couple of inches.

That’s a hard call to make for refs, instinctively, we look at the feet in these plays and not the ball. NY probably had several good angles that they used. I guess in the end it was the right call thankfully.

Even if they overturned it on replay, the Steelers would have kept possession. It just would have been a loss of a few yards. The whistle blew before the ball was recovered.

My theory is the refs knew they blew play dead too soon, so a recovery after whistle shouldn't really count so just say it was forward pass ( it wasn't) and move on

I DO NOT CARE! We have been on the other side of plenty of crap, crap, crap calls. Calls that ended or extended drives. Brutal calls at key moments. I DO NOT CARE!

The reason why it was likely shut down was due to the whistle was blown. What are they going to say, "yep we were wrong, but we messed up with blowing the whistle".

A ref says that and you can go ahead and say bottle gate 2.0 will happen.

Nah it was just slightly forward. The TV angle looked like it went on a curve forward then back , but where he let it go was where he caught it so no backwards.

The OPI later was actually ticking me off more as were damn near every big play there was holding on GB uncalled.

On the OPI you could see Austin actively trying to avoid the defender who alters his trajectory to hit him then flops. Let's not even mention the facemask on Pickens right off the line (Not Called) Don't tell me 5'8" 165 Austin blew up the DB to send him flying like that!
