I was following a YT chat during the game. I have no proof other than what was said, but supposedly Chuks was pulled as a starter because he openly questioned on the sidelines about Cananda's play calling in the Jags game. Could be just rumor, and of course Jones has helped light up the running game. I write this only because of what you said, when former players who did not make the team call it out, it really does not make me question anything, but its more than that, yes we got a lot of yards running today, scored on three of out first drives, but the play calling and plays are an NFL joke. Some of it may be lack of player execution, we see that, but the scheme is not NFL quality.

I've been neutral on Pickett hoping he would have that break out game. He is not improving.

Now don't get me wrong the Offensive Line sure road graded today but the pass protection was putrid.

And watching Green Bay basically seem to blanket the receivers as well.

They have no quick passing game. They don't use the middle of the field. The scheme is elementary.

Pickett shows no emotion seeming to be guarded and afraid of making mistakes. He is shaky.

The running game was stellar today but when you start playing the big boys and they sell out to shut down the running attack what happens then? Gonna be a long day. Or if you get down a few scores.

This brand of offense will only get you so far.

But don't you want to go further or just having another winning season the goal?

Remember when Pickett first came in last year. He would run and be all fired up afterwards. You never see it from him any more. I think he’s afraid of getting hurt

The third and short calls were weird. We run power football and gain 20 yards. Then we try to get cute with the give and fake reverse. The easiest thing to do is run the football and then run play action. To me, it seemed like Canada was trying to show how smart he was at times.

Kenny has one thing going for him. If you protect the football, you give your team a chance to win.

However, that is all we have been doing. Surviving, but not thriving. That can result in wins against average or below average teams, but there is no hope at this time to compete with the elite teams.

I remember the stretch between Bradshaw and Ben. What a tease for decades and so sad. Some years we had a Super Bowl team, except at QB.

History may be in the process of repeating.

If it makes you feel better, we have lots of non-QB problems, too. :D

Pickett is not loose, he looks tight, plays tight. So far, does not show the IT factor. He'll get another year. I am far from sold, that is for sure. a GREAT RUN game saved his ass today. and correct - this brand of offense gets you one and done, 7th seed in the playoffs. Teams will stack the box and force Kenny to throw......and he cannot.

The only starter on the OL I expect to be replaced next year is Cole, Moore and Jones might switch positions, both guards are under contract for 2024.

You know, now that you mention it...that actually is kind of troubling. Kenny always just looks kinda glum. Like, even when they have a really good drive, he still always somehow manages to look deflated. There's just a distinct lack of passion.

You look at Ben at any time of his career and you always knew his mood and his mood would often have a dynamic effect on the rest of the team: When Ben was raring to go, it animated everyone else around him - and even when he would sometimes look very visibly disappointed, this, too, would seem to inspire his team mates to try up their game and maybe turn things around.

By contrast, Kenny (especially this season) looks like an absolute blank slate, in the worst way possible, such that he almost seems invisible - sort of like the proverbial wallflower at a party that seems content to blend entirely into the background. While I can respect that, being something of a wallflower myselt, that's not really what you want to see from a QB who was drafted with the intention of literally becoming the face of the franchise.

Only comment I have is your note on Pickett. I won’t put the errors on him while we have arguably the worst coordinator in the league. You don’t know how that can effect a qb on a weekly basis. Bad play calls, can’t establish a rhythm, who knows what they are or aren’t teaching him.

DJ absolutely gets separation. Pickens isn't great with getting separation though. I'd need to watch more tape on the team to see about other WR's. Hard to see it on TV sometimes

You know about 5....play action.....I'm starting to wonder(I don't know this) if they don't like what they see from KFP in play action. We have run it, but how many completions have We actually gotten out of it??? Most of the time We run it He ends up taking off. Wonder if that has something to do with it???

I would say awesome coaching, but I know a bunch will laugh at this. Although....I do ask how many coaches could Keep winning with the way our Qb play is right now.....?

Pickett is protecting the ball.he is not forcing the ball. We have to quit running on first down Everytime. I can remember only one time we didn't run today. I think with muth coming back it should open things up a little bit. But what do I know I am not offensive coordinator like Matt Canada.

    1. Yeah, the block numbers look good.
    2. Najee and Jaylen both played well. Would still love to see Warren take the primary amount of carries, but it is definitely true that they are effective together.
    3. Bout time. Too bad we just flipped the script and scored 6 in the second half instead of the first.
    4. Still had plenty of opportunities though. Kenny sucked today. Glad we didn't have to rely too much on him.
    5. Yeah, we had a good run game going today. No excuse to not get the passing attack going too.
    6. We're struggling with zone coverage right now. It is hard to watch how many free runners we have in zone. Might be time to man up a bit more.
    7. Good game by Pat Pete. We are in good shape if he can play like that and Peezy Jr continues to ball.
    8. Hard to imagine he is still getting the snaps he does. I understand that CB isn't a super deep position for us (like most of the NFL), but we gotta give other guys run. You cant be getting beat that badly all the time as a vet and not expect to get replaced by a young player sooner or later.
    9. He is struggling mightily. Only played a few quarters all year. Unfortunately we aren't getting any progression in year 2... he's largely the same dude he was last season.
    10. This type of thing bothers me about our coaching staff. How do we not know this until week 10? How do we not try Broderick and pulling him out in space earlier?
    11. He won't be the only QB this year to start throwing away from 24. Especially when you can just throw at 29 instead and get heaps of yardage.
    12. Kid is looking great. Can't wait to see him progress. This draft was pivotal for our future and the early returns look like we nailed it.

Clueless as to why we are not seeing play action with the QB under center when the running game is working?

I mean it seems so simple on 1st down, have the QB under center, fake the handoff to freeze the safetys and throw the ball down the field.

TBH we call the plays like we think our QB sucks. We're treating him like a back up. Lots of runs, easy throws, take 7 yards on 3rd and 15 and punt, etc. If that is truly how we feel about him, this has to be his last year starting. If it isn't... then let him air it out a bit. Can't go fast with one foot on the brake.

people have been commenting on KP’s lack of enthusiasm, he’s not enjoying it out there. I wouldn’t be surprised if Canada is passing the blame for lack of production on his qb.

Steelers grabbed the hometown kid and were afraid of passing on the next “Marino”. Pickett has been way less than advertised. His QB coach Tony has always talked highly of him but honestly I dont see it during games. He misses reads, easy throws and plays any high level QB should make.

I think the Steelers really need to see some big games asap or they have to look elsewhere for their guy. You can not wait for the next 3 years and see if he matures cause right now he’s not showing an upward trend in anything.

I don’t think Khan will be as patient as many ppl would like or expect. The way he’s playing May beat the bad teams but he isn’t gonna win you a playoff game.

We can all see when the plays are there, KP doesn’t make them. I think the offense is the way it is cause Kenny can’t do much more right now.
