Pickens is the now and future #1WR on this team. He makes insane catches routinely. Throw him the ball!!!

This sounded good. Kenny talking about moving 14 around so they didn't always know what area he'd be in.

He's 22 years old and insanely talented. They shouldn't immediately move him. He should be talked to and instructed that his actions were selfish and can hurt the team. He should also be instructed that DJ playing better and being productive will only help Pickens see less double coverage and have a chance for more big plays. More big plays by him and DJ mean more production for Kenny Pickett and the offense in general. The offense will score more points. They will win more games.

I know that sounds silly to have to explain things like that, but that team message needs to be hammered home with reasons why player goals and team goals can coexist. Ultimate effort in all areas of play result in better overall play and more opportunities for him within the offense and make him a better, more valuable player.

It literally needs to be explained to him just like that.

They have to try to get him to see this and to buy in. It would be a mistake to simply trade him. Let's see if he can mature and become a truly great player with the Steelers first.

I will give credit to the Steelers and/or Tomlin. They aren’t afraid to move on a player who has become more trouble than they are worth, particularly WRs

    Holmes - traded
    Brown - traded
    Bryant - traded
    Claypool - traded

And none in the league very long afterwards. That's the part that should be scary for them. LoL.

Okorafor was due to lose his job to Jones soon enough anyway. Pickens is another matter entirely.

He's full of crap, you don't scrub all the Steelers off of your page unless you're pissed and frustrated, somebody must've talked to him because I'm not buying his response.

Steelers top echelon must of talked to him. Tomlin probably pulled him in his office. It's not just about you. This is team sport. Play like a team player. Don't be immature. Just go out and help this football team win.

Probably the guy who said dealing with young guys is like breathing and it was a pebble in his shoe

"Like breathing, it's easy. I know it's a cute story for you guys, but it is a pebble in my shoe, to be quite honest with you, in terms of the things that I have to do in an effort to get this group ready to play this week. Our focus is on the Green Bay Packers and what we're all going to do in this football game, and I can't state it any plainer than that. It's like reality television, the way you guys follow social media and write stories about it."

he needs najee to talk to him. he's kind of in the same situation or at least warren. the kid is a talent for sure. it would be nice if we had a qb that can consistently get the ball spread around to all this talent. that is a work in progress. this offense has the talent. 4-5 missed opportunities a game add up. small things matter. penalties after a good play. missing an open hole. missing an open receiver. tapping a toe down. canadas getting heat but we have made the plays that are there but it is mostly the players just making things more difficult than it has to be. small things making the offense look worse than it is.

Of course he is full of crap. He's an emotional toddler who threw a tantrum and either thought better of it later or was told to knock it the hell off. Either way, he needs to grow up, but the knee-jerk reactions to his behavior aren't much better.

And to think he's this talented with sometimes minimal effort. I suppose I can handle a tantrum from a guy if he's giving everything on every play. That doesn't appear to be the case with Pickens. Word on the street is that he takes plays off when he knows he's not the primary route. I may be wrong about that but it has been talked about around here by guys who go to the games and see it live. Hell, even my kid notices it during the game broadcasts.
I get that he makes these insane catches but a reciever needs to do the mundane things as well to be a complete Steelers reciever. So far, Pickens has not shown that.

Canada's dysfunctional offense causes more problems than one would think.
For the life of me, I don't understand his understanding of a 'weapon.'
He strikes me as one that would have shown up in Nam with a Bundt Cake pan instead of a rifle.

Kenny is right, move him around... force mismatches.
But this falls into the grey area where Canada thinks motion is against the law.

    Pickens is volatile though.
I think this can be worked through though. Unlike A. Brown, Pickens is not insane.
If he wants the ball, move him around to force those matchups, throw the ball to him.

Pickens is a one trick pony. Great at back shoulder stop and fade. Does not run awesome patterns and is not a speed burner to stretch field.
Tell him get with the program of bench him. You catch zero passes when on the bench.

He does need to improve how he runs routes, but he is better than you give him credit for being.

Even if they are out of bounds.

That was Pickens being lazy, anybody else gets that 2nd foot inbounds. Kenny P. had to of been pissed when Pickens failed to score a TD on the play.

Just watched Godfather 3 (not the best one for sure) and the mob guy told Michael C. that he had a stone in his shoe. Now , not many things would be more distracting then a mob guy PO'd at you;)
