Because I lived it. I guess You forgot how some were calling Troy P a midget, and a bust. It's way easy to say how great they are now. It wasn't so great when We went 6-10. It's the very dang same now. If We went ,and won a SB this year....20 years from now ....every Tom, dick, and Harry would tell You they just knew how freaking great We were. LoL. It's easy. Go find a message board from that time, and search around for the end of that 6-10 season....., and give Me 7 people that thought we were a SB Championship caliber team.
Yes We had talent....We have talent now....all teams have talent.

Cowher knew how to build a team and coaching staff. Tomlin not so much.

Having said that, it's completely face-palmish to even compare a SB winning QB who went 22-4 to Pickett.:facepalm: or even :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Did people not watch the playoff games against Bengals, Colts and Broncos in 2005? Ben made more plays (even on defense) in those 3 games than Picket has in two years.

Pickett has no hope in hell to come close to matching anything Ben did for the Steelers. It's unfortunate for us fans, so heads are being buried and history begin revisioned.

    This is very true.

The defense was putrid in the 6-10 season. Tim Lewis got dumped after that year. Lebeau came back, and we all know, a change in coaching means 5 seasons of disruption for the Steelers, so the D going into 2004 was in complete disarray.

The run game in the 6-10 season also was non existent and the Maddox pass heavy offense just was crap. The main reason the run worked in 2004 was because Ben could pass.

Going into 2004, nothing looked good.

    Big Ben/Kenny Pickett
    Two very different QB's
    Two very different scenarios

I like where Kenny is at; factoring in Canada, and other deficiencies.
But I do preface that with he does need to turn it up a notch by overcoming those.
Kenny does have the anointed 'IT' factor, he's good in the 4th QTR. That does need to improve to the other 3 QTRs.

I could give a hang about what Canada calls, the focus is on getting that 1st down.

Why stop at Ben. Compare him to Brady so you can complain forever.

Ben had more passing yards that Kenny at this point of their career despite that Ben had 150 less pass attempts!!!!

The passing attempts thing doesn't bother me as much, since Ben would often ice games with the run and TBH the game was just different 20 years ago. There are going to be more attempts today regardless. The concerning parts are the rating, YPA, and just the overall eye test. Ben had his struggles as you'd expect from every young player, but you saw potential. His ability to do things other players couldn't (mostly with improvisation)... he generally wasn't asked to do a ton, but he looked good doing it. Pickett doesn't give the same feeling yet. They haven't asked him to do a lot, but its been a very obvious struggle. Kenny generally has flashed potential in small isolated bursts, but mostly looks bad out there. Lots of inexcusable misses, questionable anticipation, happy feet in the pocket, etc. Not to mention Ben upped his YPG, rating, completion percent, etc., every year in his early years. Kenny is essentially the same guy he was last year being both very marginally better and very marginally worse in the areas described. The first half of this season has seen nearly no progression from KP.

I hate the comparison to Ben, because Ben was uniquely talented and an all-time great. I'd be happy if Kenny could turn into a good, solid, NFL starting caliber QB (think Carr or Cousins). That would still be a win in my opinion. We just haven't seen anything sustained to think Kenny is anything more than a career clipboard holder. These last 8 games are going to be huge for him. The outcome could vary from a vote of confidence as the guy going forward if he performs well, to potentially exploring other options at QB if he continues to look bad out there. We will just have to wait and see.
