What happened in the first 7 games then? Inaccurate just as often IMHO.

What I find funny is all the Levis fanboy all game. Then When the game is on the line, the pressure is up and receivers are covered, he throws 3 straight pickable balls...

There's a reason he slid. He has arm talent, but he's got that gun slinger mentality.

Ben was better, more dynamic, stronger, better scrambler and overall passer. But Kenny is handcuffed by the OC. And like Jeh said, seems like a more intelligent, better leader. I think he could have a great career that could rival Ben's (needs a good team around him and better coaching staff, maybe a different HC too).

Backyard ball made Ben great. Off-platform throws and off-schedule. His receivers helped him too by staying alive.

These guys are running routes and then looking around. Look at what Stroud did against the Steelers. Receivers just kept helping him by staying alive and getting lost in the defense.

Ben’s arm strength is probably 2X that of KP. That alone is a huge difference in the NFL. I will agree Ben’s situation was much better than what KP is dealing with now from a coaching and personnel standpoint.

He had that pump fake early too! Full motion like you just knew that ball was coming out!

C'mon man. Roethlisberger even in 'game manager' mode far outshined what Pickett has done so far. In Roethlisberger's rookie season he had multiple games completing >65% of his passes and one near perfect rating. The flashes were there for all to see.

Still waiting on Pickett to have a complete game, not just a quarter of good football, cause that won't cut it against the better teams in the league.

IMO you can't really compare. When Ben arrived we were only a QB away from a championship caliber team. Right now we need a whole lot more than a QB.

It also helps to have an open mind, which you do not when it comes to Pickett.

That said, you aren't wrong in writing that Roethlisberger was clearly better than Pickett during their first two seasons. Roethlisberger was a game manager, but you could already see the special physical ability that Pickett doesn't have. Both seem to have that knack for playing their best with the game on the line.

Roethlisberger regressed horribly in his third season because he wasn't healthy. He was recovering from the motorcycle accident, then had an emergency appendectomy. He was absolutely horrid the first half of that season. He didn't really take a big step forward until 2007.

Pickett still has a lot to prove, but he seemed to do a better job of seeing opportunities last week. If he can do that and make the open throws more consistently, he can be very effective.

No, he really wasn't. He was seeing open receivers better than he had all season, but missed with this throws more often than usual.

The comparisons are natural I guess, but hardly scientific. Hell Ben played at a lower level Div 1 school. Off topic but I just saw a comparison to Pie Traynor and Derrick Jeter, Really?? Joe Greene and Aaron Donald?? It is impossible to gauge, even within a short generation, the game changes so quickly. Bottom line for KP is he has to be better within a limited system, and possibly (hopefully) adapt to a new system quickly or his time may be brief. Not generally the Steeler way to bail, but they have declined the 5th year option 2x recently, and QB may be even more bucks (IDK). Not every team is going to have a top 5 QB, but if the talent is there and you are consistently in the top 12 (or so), can elevate players around you, then you give the team a chance. I want KP to get and be there, but I just do not know. The scheme sucks, but he has sucked in the scheme as well.

Ben started 14-0 for the regular season in 2004. I don`t remember much about the first 6 in 2005. Just remember we finished the season strong.

Young Ben threw dimes deep, Kenny does little of that. Ben shook off tacklers, Kenny can`t. Kenny can run a bit better though.

Young Ben raised the level of team play with his skill set. Can`t say that of Kenny yet.

There was talk already by then that one day Ben could be in HOF. Nobody saying that of Kenny at this time.

    Quite a difference.

How many 6-10 teams are considered great. When this season is over pick Me a great 6-11 teams. All teams look better with Great Qbs. All of them. I could argue now We are are Championship caliber teams if We had way better play at Qb.....could I not. Hell our D is giving up less points than almost all the teams Ben played with when He started.

I hope you are correct. The last couple of games it looked like things started differently and even great on Thursday, then it just tanked. Those 30 points may not be needed for the win, but a rhythm and flow to get to that level would be nice before we face Cincy. If passes were not dropped, blah blah..every team has issues, but ours just seem to be a deja vu. The first drive of the last game actually resembled what we saw in preseason, if we could get that for 60 mins, then I think more confidence would be had.

You are almost sounding like Cowherd, lmao. There is no doubt that a few QB's make a decent team championship caliber, and a good QB with a good team can consistently play good ball and even advance in the play offs, if it would click for KP (and the rest of the team) I think this is a team that can score points and complete drives, even in an obviously flawed system. Problem is it has not clicked, and this is crunch time, so whatever the issue(s), Canada, KP, Oline, scheme, I don't see crunch time as the time you are able to fix it. I may be wrong, we have won some unly games, but this far in the season I just do not have faith the O is going to suddenly put on some magic.

If you can't see that the team that Ben took over was CONSIDERABLY better than the team Kenny took over. I don't know what to tell you. It's not even close really.

2003 Pittsburgh Steelers were the best 6-10 team ever. That team netted us Ben Roethlisberger, Dick LeBeau and Troy Polamalu off the bench in 2004.

Sometimes, a bad season record wise can have great benefits, even in the short term!

They had 2 3-and-outs the whole game. That's some progress there!

No ....I can't....honestly. I'm sorry, but You are looking back at it with knowing what ended up happening. I don't know one Steelers fan....that year....not years later, but that freaking Year after it was over that was saying.....Man....We are a 6- 10 SB team..... Yes a bunch say that now, but if You go ,and find any old boards that where around then.....that wasn't what they were saying after the season was over. I promise. It all looks different after knowing how it turned out. Hell I remember people complaining 2 years later .....the year We actually won the SB saying the year before was a fluke, and We will be bounced by the Bengals the 1st playoff game.

Wait... How can you not look at that 2004- 2005 roster and see that it's 1000 times better than our current roster?
