I don’t think Matt Canada does a good job of utilizing any of his offensive weapons. Why isn’t Mt. Washington being used more?

Can we appreciate the frustration sure but after that it's all making excuses for bad behavior. He has a limited time to impress and earn a 2nd lucrative contract? Is the goal to win games or is it to show off so you can be put out for stud. It's to win games. George has two examples on his own team of guys doing things the right way in Watt and Highsmith. Show up, ball out when called upon and you will be taken care of. Heck I'd even add Fitz in there as well. Bottom line is that he is a Hella talent but acting like an idiot. I hope he unfollows me because that will teach me.

i m not even going to try and understand the logic. I get it DJ was out and you try and get him back into the flow, but you also have a unique talent on the other side. IDK if it iis scheme, trying to prevent TO's, but the gameplan has to include every option or we will end up bottom or near bottom of the league in scoring, oh wait. We don't use a TE, our speedster has become non-existent, but we are happy because we have a good drive at the beginning and end of the game. Well that is some progress, indeed.

There is no doubt that Pickens is immature. There is also no doubt that he is an extremely talented player.

I don't think it's necessary to blow the whole thing up immediately. This is where Mike Tomlin's leadership and the leadership on the team need to step up and try to talk some sense into Pickens. They should be trying to manage the player and show him how things can and will be better if he continues to play hard.

The other thing that needs to happen is Matt Canada needs to try a little harder to help Pickens out with formation and motion. On the play where Pickens didn't drag his feet in the end zone, he was lined up in the slot and got single coverage. It is harder to double-team someone in the slot, and it is harder if they are in motion at the snap. These are some of the things that can be done to help the entire situation. It would also help Kenny Pickett by creating more room for his most explosive weapon to operate.

In the end, everybody is expendable if they get in the way of what's best for the team. However, we are nowhere near that time just yet. I think many are overreacting and are having serious AB flashbacks. Let's see where this goes before we jump to conclusions about the ultimate outcome.

    I’ll make a note

The only relatives I like are to far from pittsburgh to use them

I’ll fair warn you I can leave the licenses but the two tickets still cost $6,000 a year plus $440 for parking and beer

I’ve deliberately not kept track of what I spend on beer it might send me a message that I would then just have to ignore :drinks:

They did throw Him the ball. At least 5 times. He's not the only player on the team. Yes some is not His fault, but some is. The ball can come to You even if You aren't the primary wr in the play....that's why You can't half a$$ your routes.

True....You shouldn't....the numbers tell You if someone is doubled, or triple covered.....someone is wide open.

    Exactly

And a team player knows if he is drawing double coverage he is doing his job and helping to win

But the current generation is “me me me”

If Pickett had just completed the throws to open receivers and Pickens had gotten a second foot down on that throw into the end zone, the Steelers would have been well over 30 points Thursday night. The passes went where they should have gone. Pickens needs to stop acting like a child and get over it.

LoL. I always wonder when I see replies like this if they don't ever watch other games. It's a league wide problem.

Exactly. That's the other reason Pickens needs to stop acting like a child and look in the mirror. They did throw to him, and that includes a pass that would have been a touchdown if he had done his job properly, but he also likely missed opportunities by running half-assed routes on plays when he wasn't the primary target.

I agree I don’t like the immaturity. But I can’t think of a position that would be more frustrating where you are relying on another teammate such as the QB the way a WR does. On top of that this offense has to be maddening to play in. If I remember correctly Fitz asked for a trade out of Miami because he was not happy about the way he was being used. I feel like it is a similar situation with Pickens. These guys are competitors. Obviously Fitz didn’t act as immature as Pickens is right now as far as we know. I think we need to find ways to get the guy open. Bunch formations, Rub Routes, etc. This guy should be having 8-10 targets a game. He is a game changer. Dionte is not a game changer. Dionte is a complimentary WR and the offensive game plan should be scripted as such. If we don’t we will lose the guy and he will go somewhere else and ball out. This is the result of bad OC and bad QB play. To me Watt and Highsmith aren’t great examples because pretty much the whole defense is designed around those guys. They get to eat. I just feel bad for all of these talents on the team being wasted right now in the primes of their career.

I think it’s because by position they can make a big play then stand out in the middle of the stadium dancing around saying look at me

The LG did his part but does he get any recognition

I'm not sure if that is true, but that is something he and the fans need to understand. Yes, he is incredibly gifted. Yes, he can make tough catches on passes into tight coverage. That doesn't mean Pickett is going to choose to throw to him when he is covered and someone else is wide open, so Pickens needs to get better at route-running to get himself open more often.

This assumes the replacement for Pickett would be better, which is a big assumption. Nobody on the current roster qualifies.

The position is a diva position partly because they rely on somebody else to get them the ball. I love the fact George is so competitive and confident that he wants the ball on every play. You don’t want to kill that spirit bye not feeding him. I don’t mind that he is mad. He just needs to react with more maturity.
