Talk about bad timing. This and the Chubbs injury, ugly.

This is no surprise, but Tom Pellisario is reporting that Holcomb will need knee surgery and his season is over.

Holcomb has definitely been our best ILB since Shazier.

So he's a good 500 times better than Bush. We are still ahead of last year.

Who was better? Hell, I'd argue that not only is he the best they have had, but Alexander is next in line. Then maybe pre-injury Bush.

Holcomb was fitting in nicely. With him and Kwon Alexander they were two really good Free Agent pick ups.

I don't mind Elandon Roberts, he is a down hill thump guy, problem with pass coverage,

Would think Robinson will get more looks inside now as well.

Hope he can recover, knee injuries can be iffy.

We all saw Devin Bush, he wasn't too bad up until the knee injury, and then he was horrible ever since.

    you can't say that.

our ILB crew has been clearly suspect all season long. I like Holcolm, will miss him, but let's not make him Shazier / Farrior !!!

I know this is not 'pro' logic, but given the few extra days they have, the talent and speed, would be fun to see a couple of Herbig and Watt schemes on that side. With Heyward back it could be a nightmare, in a good way I hope lol.

I forget the circumstances of letting him go - UFA, I suppose? It always is right player, right price. I liked Spillane - the Raiders SUCK. So, I am not sure. Our ILB situation has sucked for a decade, since Farrior left.

Did you notice him doing much good when the Steelers played them? I don't remember him doing anything special. All things being equal, I would have rather they kept him as a backup, but Holcomb, Alexander, and Roberts were all upgrades over Spillane.

Devin Bush is immature. He lacks accountability. Coming back from a major injury is hard. It takes work. I don't think he was willing to do the work. He also wasn't willing to look at his own shortcomings and address them.

I don't think Holcomb will have those issues, but yeah, he's not a sure thing. He was a more established player at he time of his injury than Bush. He was a very good player in Washington before the Steelers signed him.

    Holcomb

    The linebacker's knee hyperextended

The 27-year-old spent Thursday night in the hospital due to precaution and was discharged on Friday morning, according to NFL Network'sIan Rapoport. While he won't return this year, he is reportedly expected to make a full recovery.

    No current mention of surgery

I’m surprised one of our internet doctors did have this incorrectly diagnosed while he was still on the ground

I guessed broken leg only because I didn't see it initially and they chose not to show a replay during the broadcast, but I also made it clear that I was guessing almost entirely based on what Al Michaels said about it.

I thought it had been reported that he would need surgery.
