need more production from Watt/Highsmith

Need more production from Highsmith (only 2 sacks). I always see Highsmith taking himself out of play by focusing on getting to the QB and the RB has the ball. He needs to diagnose the play better and not take himself out of the play. After a great start Watt has slowed down in sack production. Watt has compensated that with going into coverage and getting an interception but want him to get the QB. Like to see Watt with 11+ sacks and Highsmith with 6+ sacks by mid season.

 

Correct me if I am wrong, I believe TJ Watt was AFC player of the month?

 

I don't know how much more production you could expect from those guys. Watt has been a monster as usual, if it wasn't for him we'd be 1-6 or even 0-7. While Highsmiths's sacks are down this year, he leads the NFL in QB pressures (although he did disappear against the Jags). TJ and Highsmith are the least of our worries

 

You might be picking on the wrong guys I’m guessing it’s hard to be on the field 95% of the game because the offense averages 2 minutes per possession

 

If Watt were at 11 plus sacks, he would be on pace to break the sack record. For an all-star pass rusher, I look for a pace to reach 15 or 16 sacks in a season, which is normally good to finish in the top 2 or 3 for individual sacks. Watt is on pace for that or more.

I agree about Highsmith though. While he does have a lot of pressures, he’s got to get more sacks to help take pressure off Watt. I would also like to see Highsmith with better containment on the run (for either the RB or when the QB breaks the pocket).
