Watt actually faced 4 players two different times I caught on this last game.. How crazy is that???. LoL. No wonder they , and He wanted Him moving in different spots .

TJ Watt is a GREAT defensive football player. I’m not downplaying his greatness based on the team’s overall lackluster performance during his career. But the question was is he the GREATEST Steelers defensive player of ALL TIME? The answer to that question for me is a resounding NO! I can’t say he’s the greatest of all time when players like Mean Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, Troy Polamalu and others have helped lead the Steelers to multiple Super Bowl victories. That is why we play the game, to win Super Bowls. TJ has none at this point. He’s one of the greatest defensive players in Steelers history, no doubt. I’d put him in the top 5 and if he helps lead the team to Lombardi Land, he’ll climb the list rapidly. As for Dan Marino, he was a great quarterback but will never be known as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. There are several ahead of him who have Super Bowl rings. The bottom line for me is that in order to be considered the greatest, you have to have a Super Bowl win, preferably multiple wins, as part of your legacy.

Yep. I saw 2 tight ends line up outside the RT that would engage him with the RT taking away the bull rush inside. Then there could be a back waiting for him once he got past those three. That is crazy. The whole point of all this is that Watt is so good he makes everyone on the field better. That's why the Steelers record without him is horrible. All those other players aren't getting double-teamed and it actually allows everyone else a better chance to make a play. That's how many people it takes to stop him.

Offenses can also do this stuff to Watt because nobody else is making them pay enough to NOT block him with that many people. It's not TJ Watt's fault that there aren't others on the defense feasting because all the attention is going to him.

I don't mean to speak for STD, but I think we both understand your position. Again, that is a very fair position on Watt. It's OK to disagree.

We are speaking to others that won't even consider him because he wasn't playing on Championship teams. He is completely dismissed.

Rod Woodson was one of the greatest defensive football players ever, but most Steelers fans won't give him his due because he didn't win a Super Bowl. It's crazy.

I certainly respect that take, especially because you are old enough to remember Greene's career. I really don't remember his prime. That said, if you are going to look at the team's records without each guy, you also have to figure in the four Super Bowls. Both are affected by the fact that Greene played on better teams for the bulk of his career.

Good points... but Woodson, Greene, Lake, Kirkland, Brown, Steed and Lloyd were great defensive players for the Steelers that didn't win rings for the Steelers. Hopefully Watt won't be a part of this crew.

put TJ on the SB teams and your jaw would drop. Penalizing him because the rest of the team is subpar makes zero sense. Many are gonna say he’s not the best because the best times of their lives were spent watching Lambert, Greene, etc win with their Daddy so you’ll never change their mind.

I'm sure everyone is hoping that Watt gets at least one ring before he hangs it up. It's a shame for those other great players that never tasted the ultimate success in a team game, no matter how great they were individually.

Woodson has a ring. He played for the Ravens when they won the Super Bowl in 2000.

Watt was a rookie in 2017....Don't fair to compare Watt in his rookie season with James Harrison in his prime

I would’ve loved to have seen TJ on the Super Bowl teams, but he wasn’t. Do you know who was? Mean Joe Greene and Jack Lambert. They won four Suoer Bowls. TJ is a great player and one of the Steeler greats, no doubt. But I’m not going to put him ahead of Greene or Lambert when the teams he’s played on have been mediocre at best. And by the way. My dad was a baseball guy. He didn’t even like football so I didn’t watch “with Daddy”. What makes zero sense is the implication that the only reason anyone holds Greene and Lambert in high regard is sentimentality.

It is a shame. I hope both TJ and Cam (another great) both win one or more before riding off into the sunset.

Again, you keep saying he's not as good because they were on Superbowl teams. It's not only a lame argument, but one a little kid would make while throwing their milk all over the floor, lol. Enjoy your night.

I'm sure Watt probably hit the rookie wall by then, but the other playoff games he hasn't stepped up much.

Not excuses at all. It's explaining a reality that the greatest football players experience. I know not everyone played the sport or understands it at the same level, but this isn't a concept that is difficult to understand.

If you don't believe me, search any knowledgeable articles on the subject.

No, I’m saying he’s a great player, but both Greene and Lambert were greater partly because of the impact they had in helping to lead their team to four Super Bowl wins. Do you have a problem with comprehension, junior? If you want to disagree that’s fine, we can agree to disagree. Of course, those of your mental acumen have to hurl little petty insults when they don’t have the intellect to debate their case. If that makes you feel better, wittle boy, have at it.

And I didn’t do that you missed the point

The Steelers cut JH just before that and that is my point he wasn’t there to pick up the slack or take over
