If you have a chance to get a potential franchise LT you draft him, it's a lot easier to find a WR.

No doubt. He was a multi sport freak in high school. Looked very different than everyone else. Played some QB, too. Had offers from bigger schools but they all wanted him to play DB. Pitt was the best school that would let play WR.

I don't know that I would say he is playing "good", but his play essentially hasn't gotten him benched. He performed well against the Rams. Has been pretty up and down aside from that. For reference he is ranked currently as the 27th OT by PFF, which is..... average. Now, Chuks is ranked 42nd, so he is certainly playing better than him. It wont happen this season, but I would be very surprised if the decision for 2024 and beyond is anything other than Jones at LT and Moore at RT.

 

Addison certainly would've been a really good pick given how he's looked so far, but we would still be in dire straits at the OT position if we didn't take Jones. I don't blame them for the pick and think that Jones looks like he is going to turn into a really good player for us.

 

But when he had to face those good pass rushers earlier this season none of them did much.

 

While true, the guys he went against were elite talents, Moore is okay and could be good. Jones just wasn't ready.

Moore did some things in the run game against the Rams that I don't think Jones can do yet.

 

Also Moore is constantly getting better.

 

I'm not sure Jones would've fared much better against those same guys.

we right now wasted that pick on Jones, I have been on record of saying that. You don't move up and draft a guy #1 in today's NFL to SIT HIM ON THE BENCH. it was a bad move.

Excellent find Troy. That was an amazing play against VA but the one against the Niners was even more impressive because it had been fully intercepted and then stolen. Must be quite strong for a scrawny kind of guy. Pitt certainly has produced some great WRs and RBs in the NFL and several other spot players. Too bad it rarely translates into great seasons for Pitt.

 

It's because unlike some teams like Georgia, Ohio State, Bama, LSU, and so on they can't get a whole team of excellent players, and backups. Hell some of those teams I mentioned have excellent backups....They(Pitt) are like most of the other teams....a few outstanding players, and then a bunch of ok players. It's hard to play with the other teams that are loaded like that.
