run defense sucks because...

majority of the time, we had only 2 DLs and 4 LBs and 5 DBs. noticed later in the game, we finally put 3 DLs and that seemed to slow down the Rams. We need 3 DLs in there.

Really miss Cam unfortunately I don’t think he’s back anytime soon….. if at all.

 

During a whole game that’s not realistic to expect us to comitt to three down lineman. In a passing league and especially with our poor cb play you need the extra cb in coverage.

As a result the real issue is our s heme against the run. We need to ask the Def lineman to gap contain and play laterally and tie up blockers instead of gap penetrate. Getting bigger defensive lineman that require two offensive lineman to block them would go a long way as well.

well.....yes, BUT - he as we all know, is at the end. Got trucked week 1 even when he was in there. just not super stout at ILB. Have not been for years. Miss Cam, will miss him for sure when he retires.....he is far from his prime these days.

He is a good bit past his prime...

 

Cam isn't the solution. He's getting up there in age and isn't the dominant player he once was.

 

He is the only solution they are going to get this season, and he was still as dominant as ever last season.

 

That's true, we will get him back this year. I guess I was thinking more long term. But for this season, you're right, he's the only solution we have and probably the best one available to us.

 

I agree with both of these comments. I'm afraid that age and injury will slow Cam down considerably, but he did demonstrate last year that he could still be dominant. He's one of the greatest Steelers of all time and I really hope he gets a ring before he rides off in the sunset. Time is growing short though.

 

They still have Fehoko. I think they gave him a helmet a couple weeks ago, but don’t think he had any defensive snaps. Go figure.

 

You are right about the long term. They need more help at defensive tackle. They can't really rely on Heyward past this season and they have no replacement. Benton will help, but he isn't enough.

 

We actually need 4 or 5 , but we can't because our back end is to weak .. Is why we get torched if we make the playoffs by that time of year to much tape on our smoke and mirror defense so Teams simply take out our play makers by design and then attack on multiple levels our weak spots..

Most said that the Rams would pass all over Us....so when the coaching staff shows they didn't want this to happen, and went a lot of 2 DL....now everyone is complaining about the rushing yards. LoL

 

A one dimensional defense is not gonna cut it come playoff time when your team has an inept offense that can't score.

 

I believe we have only played 6 games. There are 11 more regular season games in which we could get better, or worse at many things. If We had not done that in the 1st half, and they passed all over us, and got far ahead so we couldn't play catchup.....everyone would be complaining......Yet when the Coaches actually show they actually attacked with a specific team in mind they get called stupid. Some can't ever be happy no matter what they do. That's all I'm getting at.
