would you rather have tomlin back or cowher out of the booth next season? i see no emotion with tomlin... i got killed here mid season when i said i am so sick of tomlin and his standard is the standard BS every week and many of you jumped all over me .. well im still sick of it and is the "STEELER STANDARD" a 7-9 or 8-8 season? id love to see TTF do a poll? although i know there is little chance of cower coming back.. or even tomlin fired.. and thats not the poll question.. the poll question would be.. IF BOTH WERE AVAILABLE NEXT SEASON WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE TOMLIN OR COWHER as HC?

Tomlin's act is wearing thin on me. I think Ben and Dick LeBeau have compensated for many of Tomlin's weaknesses.

    I would rather have tomlin.

Cowher was here too long and they stop listening to him after 15 years.

We all know Tomlin is not an Xs and Os guy. He needs good coordinators around him for him to be successful. That's the type of coach the Rooney's like. You won't see a Sean Payton, Jason Garrett, or offensive minded coach here.

I want a coach that doesn't say "obviously" every 3rd word.

I have never seen a Cowher team as unspired and undisciplined as I have seen Tomlin's team this season.

Sometimes teams just get beat. Cowher's teams were like that - you just get outplayed. That's on the players - talent.

Tomlin's teams beat themselves. Look at the games this year, every game had the same vibe. That's not on the players IMO...

    Bill Cowher

Edit: Damn! I have to change my avatar to something other than the Superdome.

Edit 2: Anyone mind Adriana Lima? Didn't think so...

Dude I honestly think the Rooney's would tolerate 5 seasons like this before they let Tomlin go. They kept Noll through the 80s right? They kept Cowher after multiple AFC Championship losses as well right? Tomlin is 2-0 in AFC Championships right? He aint going nowhere but I'm still mad at him right now and yes his demeanor still gets on my nerves quite frequently.

The old Rooneys did keep Noll through the 80's but Art II has already shown himself to be different whether it's criticizing officials or offensive systems publicly or, depending on the account, overriding his coach on keeping an O coordinator. I'm not sure he is as patient as the elders.

You could have a point there. We will see I suppose but wouldn't you have to assume that Dan Rooney still has quite a bit of say in something that big?

I would take Cowher back in a heartbeat. Heck I will even drive to NC and pick him up.

As for Tomlin, I am also tired of his cliches'. He has to take some if not all of the blame for his teams lack luster performance the past month and a half. Yes I know Ben was hurt for 3 games, but we have lost 3 with him back. He has taken a team that should have easily won this division and didnt even make the playoffs. Sure players play and coaches coach, but when players arent being coached and continue to underperform , thats where the distinction of blame is placed. Tomlin is the head coach, the buck starts and stops with him!

I dunno. Dan Rooney is 80 years old. Throw in his recent work overseas and I don't see how he would have the energy or the time.

I think I'd take Cowher, mainly because of his talent for filling his coaching staff with quality coaches. I think that's where Tomlin could use some work, although nabbing Carnell Lake seems to have paid off quite nicely. Cowher hasn't been gone for that long so he should still have some nice leads out there.
