This is the first time Muth will miss multiple games in a season. Seems like he is always hurt but he’s not. The biggest issue with him is 3 concussions in less than a year, 2 of them coming under a month.

Outside of that he had a MCL sprain in January and left week 1 this season with a chest injury.

So for the most part he has remained on the field until now.

Time to see what they have in Washington, he’s been non existent so far.

I am interested too in Washington, but he hasn't really caught any passes, to my knowledge, he has size, confidence and has mostly been playing as a blocking TE, thoughts are creeping in that his receiving skills aren't translating well to the NFL, but we will see with Pat being out and Washington getting more playing time, he doesnt lack confidence , guys seem to believe in him

I called this in the beginning of the year. You got to be 3 deep at TE because Muth WILL GET HURT at some point in the season.

I would never have let Gentry go in the first place.

What the hell is your problem? All Steeler fans can do is express "black&gold-colored" opinions or they can't be valid or appropriate? Screw that. I'd rather read opinions from a "thinking" fan any day.

Ok, that experiment is over. Trolls gone, sorry guys.

Some people have been allowed back in here and have done better coexisting on the board and allowed to stay while others just have very poor social skills and love making waves.

    Wipe out.

I don't know this at all, but I'm wondering if He drops passes in practice a lot, or KFP doesn't like him???
I have noticed KFP doesn't look at Him most of the time if He's out on a route. Last week He was open twice, and KFP went to a check down once, and forced a out of bounds pass to Pickens the other time. So maybe He doesn't trust Him. Of course... I don't know if this is the reason.

What he was doing in of itself wasn’t terrible but he’s been banned before and was making peoples time here less enjoyable.

To quote Stigner: You need to be doing it better and cleaner than the other guy.

While Pat may likely be back this season, his chances at a Contract Extension have now vanished here. Should Muth hit the marker, he will have to obtain that pay day elsewhere. It is true that he is not as injury prone as others may believe.

However, how these injuries keep popping up is something different all together. Case of bad luck?! Possibly. It happens. That said, I would imagine that the Front Office wouldn't have to ponder such a decision on Muths future here. That isn't my biggest concern here.

2018 to 2021 everyone... think about that for a second. Four seasons of either lackluster to downright ghastly draft results. For that matter, during those years, the only major contributions during this time is a Wide Receiver just about everyone wants gone in Diontae Johnson. The second is a special EDGE in Alex Highsmith. Given that there were at least 28 or so selections during that time; having only two pan out simply is not just unsustainable but unacceptable. Part of this does befall on the Front Office. However...

The bigger area where blame can be placed is coaching. Jury's still out on the 2022 class but 2023 has shown some early promising returns. 2024 has to be a grand slam level of a draft to offset the shortcomings of 2018 to 2021. Otherwise, expect more frustration moving forward.

Many fans are just hard to understand. This is what Pat Freiermuth did in his first two seasons in the NFL. Yeah...he's a bum.....
    .

    PRO CAREER

    • Has played in 32 career games (17 starts)

    • Has caught 123 passes for 1,229 yards and nine touchdowns

    • His 123 receptions are the most by a tight end in franchise history over their first two years in the NFL and sixth-most by a tight end in NFL history over their first two years in the NFL

    • 10th tight end in NFL history to reach 100 career receptions in 25 games or less

    • Reached 100 career receptions in his 25th game in the NFL, which is the 10th-fewest games needed to reach 100 receptions in NFL history

    • Reached 1,000 receiving yards in his 26th career games, tied for the fastest by a tight end in franchise history (Eric Green)

    • His 1,229 receiving yards are the most by a tight end in franchise history over their first two years in the NFL

    • His nine TD catches are the third-most by a tight end in franchise history over their first two years in the NFL and tied for the ninth-most among tight ends since the start of the 2021 season

    • Made NFL debut in Week 1 of 2021 (at Buffalo)

    :hmm:

Who is calling him a bum?! All I stated was his chances of an extension with the Steelers are all but impossible at this point. Given how much the Tight End market has changed, it wouldn't surprise me if Pat elected to sign elsewhere.

If you are commenting on my statement regarding the many whiffs between 2018 to 2021, Pat isn't among them in terms of performance. Reason I didn't place him alongside Alex and Diontae is due to availability; more so in Highsmiths case though Johnson has been relatively durable himself.

    Context is key here.

I don’t agree with anyone who says he’s a bum. But I do think it’s fair to ask whether or not Muth may be one of those guys who just can’t stay healthy for one reason or another. He’s a more than viable weapon when he’s healthy, but his career seems to be trending in a troubling direction with the concussions and lower body injuries.

I understand that. I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about the people above that are saying he isn't very good. He's injured all the time. He's overrated. They need to move on from him. And so on, and so on.

He is taken for granted because many here don't seem to understand how rare it is for a tight end to do as well as he has done in his first couple years here. They also seem to forget that many of those catches, yards, and touchdowns came at crunch time in games. That isn't a guy that is easily replaced even though they think he is.

Why don’t you list his blocking ratings?

If he wasn’t constantly hurt he should covert to WR. He’s definitely a decent pass catcher.
