Remember they are not news telecasts, they are entertainment, remember that. Just like newspapers used have an op-ed section, now the entire paper is really op-ed. The fact people realize that certain news telecasts are liberal and another is conservative is embarrassing!! A free press is supposed to report "facts", not make them up, distort them, advance their own agenda, etc. Sad state of affairs and I'm not talking about the Steelers.

Why does he need to be on the field

Are you somehow thinking that will change the play calling

Or do you think he literally should be on the field as say a WR or TE

Down on the sideline seeing the action up close , talking to the players when a play fails.
That would have been the “change” we’re looking for, and someone else in his seat upstairs…ready to pounce on an opportunity.

The man would be hoarse talking to the players after failed plays.

At this time in the booth he can call 3 plays and then stay quiet unil the other team scores EZPZ

I remember a few months ago this board was envious over the fact that Chiefs players had inputs into the offense’s plays. Isn’t this the same? No fan of Canada, but I see this as a good thing

Would this cause Canada to STOP running the SAME PLAY 10 times a game? Yes, he's done that more than once.

    Simple question???
Do You watch other football games???
Not defending Canada....I never wanted him, but You do know other coaches run the same plays over, and over???
I have never ever seen a coach run a different play every play in a game. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but I can't think of one time. Just because You run the same play doesn't mean it's against the same D, or that the target is the same 1st look.
Not saying You, but the majority of people that bring this up ....either one....don't know this, two...haven't watched much football outside of the Steelers.

Hmmm, well you are really bringing up more than one subject:

1.) Whether or not coaches/OC run the same play more than once during a game. Yes, this is fairly common, ESPECIALLY when you consider "offshoots" of the same play, i.e. running the exact same play to the other side, etc. I recall the Bills "K Gun offense" during Marv Levy, Jim Kelly years. I'm sure they over-simplified it a tad, but they claimed they basically ran Thurman Thomas on four plays total: TT up middle left, toss left, up middle right and toss right. So, yes, I am aware coaches call the same play - or nearly the same play - more often than once a game.

2.) Do coaches/OC normally call the exact same play 10 times in one game? I believe I read two article on two different games that cited Canada for running the exact same play 10 times in one game. This seems more excessively repetitive than just running the same play more than once per game, as you have mentioned.

So yes, I do realize coaches call the same play more than once during a game and that is not all that unusual. But does that equate to Canada calling the exact same play 10 times in one game? I'm not so sure.

it's pretty bad when a player has to tell a Coach how to run an OFF. Its laughable and disgusting that Matt doesn't even know what a off. is

Remember when they asked Claypool what the coaches and team could do to help the offense..... He said play better or louder music in the locker rooms before the games. :clapping:

Arians was on the sidelines, Haley was on the sidelines. I think the OC should be there. I know there are headsets and ways to communicate, just seems disconnected though.

Maybe if Canada WAS on the sidelines some of these sucky ass players could slap him around a little for his play calls.

Canada can’t call plays when he’s up in the box with a clear view of the field. Do you think he can call plays standing on the sideline with people blocking his view?

Honest question: what well-regarded coaches/coordinators have run the offense from the box? I know I’ve seen it, just can’t remember any.
