Faith No More is one of those bands you must see live to fully appreciate what they do.

    Mastodon: Megalodon
Excellent Hybrid picking in a Metal song. The bit at 1:20 Is worth the whole song. LoL

The part starting at 1:27 sounds like a faster version of Welcome Home Sanitarium at 3:49:

Yeah except it has 3 different notes that are hammered , and pulled at one part, and then again 3 different notes in a different part....is in a different tempo, and is played as two different lines.....while Metallicas is 5th cords slides with only one change outside the open e chugging Other than that. Yes.

Yeah, not saying it's a direct copy, just the basic riff and feel.

Oh...yes I agree the feel in that part is definitely there. I just play both songs so I know the differences that I was breaking down My Friend. That's all. I hope You didn't take it wrongly. I could talk about stuff like this all day.

Is this Type of post punk a big thing over there???
I was a big fan of this type of music at one time. I have heard of them, but I think this is the 1st time I've actually listened to them all the way.

It's obviously not mainstream but yeah post punk is pretty much alive and muddled and mixed with loads of other genres. I'm quite into the gig scene and it's still more 'underground' or 'alternative' as that sort of music always seems to be but it has plenty of followers. I always feel plenty of artists i listen in the US have a good flavour of post punk. Glad you're into it.

Might have to turn this into a thread that covers everything. The dimbulbs rarely poke their heads in here.

Nope, not at all :thumbs up: The Mastadon song is like a faster, more technical version of the Metallica riff, which isn't surprising. I recently heard someone say that a friend of theirs said Damage Inc. was the most technical song he'd ever heard, but the guy that said he had never heard anything by Megadeth except for Symphony of Destruction. The guy played the entire Rust in Peace album for the guy, and he was blown away by how much more technical Megadeth is than Metallica.

For some reason I think of The Sex Pistols when I hear this song.

Because there is a touch of it. It's kinda like when You hear many metal bands there is always a touch of Black Sabbath somewhere in there....you could take this all back a bit farther. All musicians, and therefore their music will have not only a touch of what they listen to ,and liked, but also a touch of what the people they listen to had listen to, and liked. If you catch my meaning. LoL.
