Anybody know anything about him? He was drafted and cut by the Colts this year in the fifth round. He is 6’2” 198 lbs. ran the 40 in 4.3. Had some decent stats in college. Has anybody seen him play?

I really hope they didn't sign a guy off a practice squad because of his 40 time and it says a lot when the report is Desmond King is going to be released or traded because of the signing. They could save the paperwork and put Boykin out there to cover guys he should be able to run fast and knock a ball down.

......I'm not remotely serious about Boykin but no clue what Kahn and Tomlin are doing.

Another 6'2 CB, I wonder what happened for the Colts to cut him so soon after drafting him.

I don't get this either. I remember Rush from the draft; he's basically a faster Justin Layne. King may not have the physical gifts and upside, but has at least shown he can be a competent pass defender (and special teams) contributor at the professional level. To discard him in favor of a project yet to play a down, particularly given their current situation and dubious track record with developing defensive backs, makes little sense to me.

On a positive note, Rush has excellent length and speed, reportedly has good ball skills, isn't afraid in run support, and actually projected better in zone than press/man (stiff hips). Seems an ideal boundary corner, but still.. he's raw.

I thought people on here were excited about the King signing? He played 1 snap and is being cut. Once again either another bargain bin dive by the Steelers Organization or the coaching staff is clueless on how to utilize and develop players. Probably a combination of both.

There is obviously an issue with King. Houston dumped him for a reason.

When I read the signing on some FB feed I then came here to read reactions. Then went to get coffee, do some make up work on my day off and had time to ponder. That is how little my life has become, thinking about something like this instead of sleeping in and dreaming about all the women we should have on a cheerleading squad that does no exist.

I may be wrong on some or all of this, but this is about THIS year, someone on the 53 who can help THIS team, now.

Is Rush NOW better than King in what expected on field duties? Is he able to handle return abilities? Peterson is not going anywhere, besides Porter you have Wallace, Pierre, and Sullivan as CB's. King indeed may suck more than those 3, but in scouring all the PS's in the league (which admittedly might not get you much), is Rush able to help you more NOW than anyone else?
I ask this because some have commented that he is a developmental prospect, that's fine, but (and I may be mistaken) coming off a PS means he is a FA at the end of the year. Likely can be signed without fanfare, but still this is about NOW...is he better than King (possibly), is there someone else now that can help, better prepared?

This is not about cutting King, it's more about why we poach a prospect that may not even dress that we may not even be able to keep.

I thought Rush had some fans here during the draft, but I could be remembering that wrong. I doubt he is more help this season, but clearly, they didn't like what they saw with King.

That said, this is about the fringes of the roster, so I'm not as concerned as I am about their inability to properly address the positions at the top of the depth chart.

Still in his rookie season and on his 3rd team already..... guess that means we will develop him into the next Rod Woodson

This..past is past and nothing can be done about it, but the difference in re-signing Cam Sutton and what they paid Peterson was doable. That gave us a top depth chart at CB of Peterson and Wallace, and a rookie Porter. I think Sutton and Porter at the top looks far more exquisite than what we have now, and long term, but CB's are a dime a dozen I guess.

Damn when I saw his 40 time I thought this was Gunner's replacement in the Punt Return game.

1 punt return in college for -2 yards. :(

Cutting King is more about moving Peterson to the slot. The comparison should be between Peterson, Sullivan and King. Rush was a coincidental signing strictly from a developmental standpoint more to replace the cb they just lost from the os to Philadelphia.

if anything cutting King should mean more playing time for Porter. Regarding losing Sutton. I heard on the radio they said Sutton has family in Detroit so the move was not about the money. The Steelers were willing to match the offer but Sutton desired to play in Detroit.

Exactly, though it isn't just long term. They really miss Sutton this season. I was hopeful that Peterson had more left in the tank, but clearly, that was wishful thinking.

Maybe that is true. Maybe it is the kind of BS teams put out there when they screw up and let a good player get away.

You do realize they kept James Pierre, who has no business even being on an NFL roster.

I still can't believe Pierre made the team after how bad he looked in preseason.

Either way are current cb situation is not good. I hope they can really attack this position next offseason. Even with Porter I wouldn’t mind adding two more plus a safety. I remember that year we drafted Woodson we drafted Everett and Delton Hall as well. I kind of like Delton Hall and I loved Everett. Wouldn’t mind another class like that.

Too bad that kid Cory Trice got hurt. Sounded like he was doing really well at camp. I liked him going into the draft. Hope he can recover

This would have been a good year for it with the depth at cornerback in this draft. Remember they did draft another corner, but Trice is injured.

Because Peterson is still better than King, which tells you how little they think of King.

Nobody knows why King is on the trade block. Just guesses and speculation. Why was he available when we signed him?
