My son (20 years old) and I will be heading to Pittsburgh for the game against the Jaguars on Sunday, October 29th. We will be staying in Homestead at the Hampton Inn, a hotel in downtown Pittsburgh was over 300 a night and The Hampton Inn was just under 400 for 2 nights. I have a few questions.

    - Can you Uber/Lyft from Homestead to the stadium for a reasonable rate?
    - Is there anything in the Homestead area that would be good to go to on Saturday night with my 20-year-old son? Recommendations on downtown spots that would be 20-year-old-friendly are also welcomed.
    - Is there a restaurant/ bar close to the stadium we could visit prior to the game if we get down there early? I won't be able to tailgate as I plan to Uber/Lift down and won't be able to bring a cooler or food for tailgating.

Appreciate any thoughts/suggestions on the above items.

Looking forward to watching a Steeler win against the Jaguars.

There’s a sticky thread at the top of the page that has a lot of good information in it. Enjoy your trip to Pittsburgh.

I would take an Uber over to where the paddle wheel boats dock and there are a ton of restaurants there. You ride the paddle wheeler over to the stadium for free and back again.

I don’t recall the boats being free…. The Gateway Clipper, I think it’s called? Anyway the area where you catch it, with all the restaurants and bars, is called Station Square. Used to be a Sheraton right where you board… Not sure if it still is. Enjoy.

I may have missed the most recent sticky thread as I only see one from 2018 and most of the links don't work which I why I posted my question. If I cannot see a more recent sticky thread please pass along the link to help me out with my trip.

    Thanks-- Dan

Lots of great suggestions in the thread / guide that was mentioned.

If it were me, I would start at the Waterfront or Southside (should be near you). After that, I would head to the Strip District. You can get some lunch, beverages, and Steelers gear in the Strip.

You could also just head straight to the Strip!

I forgot to add, you could either Uber or move your car to one of the garages on the point. We like to park there and walk back across the bridge after the game (traffic seems to be better over there, rather than trying to get through the North Shore traffic - my personal opinion).

Not sure if your hotel does but many provide transportation. You may want to check on that

The couple of times I've stayed in a hotel in Pittsburgh for a game, the hotel had free shuttles that would take us to the subway/transit drop off to take a free subway ride to the stadium. I'd call the hotel and ask if they have this.

Don't go on the ducky tour;) I did not know it went in the river. I started freaking out a bit but it was pretty cool. He let a little kid drive it in the water.

I believe they closed those types down all across America at one time because of a bad accident....if I remember correctly. They then found them dangerous, or something.

I also believe you can ride the subway from downtown and near the point to the game for free
