I moved to Cleveland in 1979

Didn’t take long for me to correct that mistake and I moved back to Pittsburgh

    Just a thought

I see your point but isn't not celebrating wins worse? Doesn't that mean you're fine with tanking?
That will be me with my fishing. My knees are starting to make it hard to get in and out of the boat.

My uncle had a life membership and was still playing at 100

He said if he got tired after 12 holes then it was a 12 hole course that day

I asked him if he was hitting from the ladies tees and he glared at me and said

    “You son of a *****” :smiley1:

I've lived among Philly faithful for 50 years and they can't understand why I have not switched over.

I can't remember anyone ever celebrating tanking, or losing. I'm not saying it didn't happen. But it must be rare.

Right, but I think the whole issue with celebrating the non-losing seasons is overblown. I don't know that there are many members of this board who like to trumpet that as some huge accomplishment. If anything, it's becoming more and more a point of contention. I can only speak for myself but it's certainly something I've never hung my hat on with regards to Tomlin.

I will add this about the non-losing season issue. It is hard to win consistently in the NFL. It's even harder to consistently have non-losing seasons. However, the luster of that accomplishment is lost in the lack of playoff and postseason success. If there had been a few playoff wins or strong postseason pushes mixed in the last few years, it would be hard to argue against Tomlin's accomplishments. That just isn't the case, though.

That is because they are fans of other team that have losing seasons all the time.
It's easy to say.... never had a losing season means nothing....when You haven't had any in forever. Not so easy for fans of other teams that have not only had many losing season, but terrible losing season. It's kind of like the rich man telling the common people how money doesn't buy You happiness.

Maybe because a lot of them paid good money for season tickets and like any other customer has a right to complain about the product on the field.

I can't speak to this board, but I can tell you 100% that certain fans celebrate the "non-losing" seasons by Tomlin as some kind of proof of his excellence as a coach. If you just soak in the posts on Facebook, you certainly get that vibe. Yinzer celebrate Tomlin's "non-losing" seasons as proof that he is an "exemplary coach." But don't dare ask them about SIX season sans a playoff win.

Maybe, but I am speaking about this board. And myself. Some people just aren't paying attention. It's right up there with the "Tomlin lovers" argument. Those who are paying attention understand that there are a lot more Tomlin detractors than some want to admit. Reason being, it doesn't fit the narrative some guys want to push around here. There's a ridiculous "us vs. them" narrative that guys on this board love to push.

A friend of mine made an appetizer out of little smokies cocktail wieners and brown sugar

So I thought about what’s cooking and decided to find more recipes

I googled “little wienies (seriously I did)

    I did not get recipes

The offense is not performing up to the level of anyone's expectations.

The Steelers are at the top of division at 3-2. NE is 1-4. DEN is 1-5. NYG are 1-4. CHI is 1-4. MINN is 1-4. CAR is 0-5. CARD is 1-4.

You didn't quote a post so I'm not sure who exactly you're responding to, but I didn't get the sense the poster immediately before you was implying this. Maybe I missed it.

'Fan' is short for 'fanatical', so sure, some unreasonable thoughts and actions come with the territory. And look, I pretty much agree with what you're saying, just not sure who you're directing this fanatical venting at. ;)

I think STD brings up an interesting point about the 'Fire Canada' chants. On one hand, I understand them because of the terrible state of the offense and the stubbornness of the organization to stay with him after a previous two years of terrible - and admittedly I think it's funny to see FIRE CANADA posters showing up at WWE events - but I guess I'm assuming innocent fun/trolling of ownership. Then I'm reminded of people trashing Haley's front yard, stories of Cowher afraid of getting gas, fans throwing punches in the parking lot, etc., and I think about the fine line of responsibility that some lose sight of when caught up in fanatical emotion.

When that kind of thing happens, things stop being fun.

I tend to tune out annoying behavior by fans. With one notable exception.

There was this older guy (Hell I'm old. OK, older than me) that started sitting by our group at the dirt track races several years ago. Seemed okay, knew some people in the sport, told a couple of cool stories. After a handful of weeks, I found myself trying to tune the guy out. He was possibly the most whiny, negative "fan" of anything I've ever sat around. I told one of my buddies that if going to the track made me that miserable, I'd never go again. It was getting to the point where I was simply going to sit elsewhere every week (no reserved seating for weekly shows) when one of the dudes in our group told him off and he got up and moved. Hasn't sat by us since. I have to admit I felt a little bad about it, but not bad enough to go talk the guy. I honestly was just glad he was gone.

So, I get that people can get annoyed or distracted. I have seen people at the track cheering when a driver they don't like is involved in a serious accident. What can you do? Some people are just idiots. I just tune out as much as possible. I enjoy sporting events much more that way.
