As far as I know Munch left to be close to his family in Colorado when Denver offered him the O-Line coach.

He was fired 3 years into a 4 year contract When Denver changed Head Coaches; He was able to sit at home all last year and Cash his Denver Broncos paychecks from his couch.

He is 63 years old and was last seen attending a football camp in Pittsburgh.

“Yeah, I miss it,” Munchak said. “That’s why the camps, working with kids, the teaching parts... I feel like I have a lot of knowledge and I can pass that on to the players. I definitely have interest if the right opportunity comes up now that I have these things behind me to get back in coaching.”

And you think that will happen mid season? Like there's top level O.C.s sitting at home on the couch?
I want that as much as you but there's not much in the Steelers history that tells you that they will look to get some young, innovative offensive coordinator that Tomlin will hand complete control of the offense to.

I understand what your saying most of us want Canada gone yesterday but they are not going to just bring someone in and implement a new offense in 2 weeks. And to be honest I feel that it really wouldn't be a major upgrade. but a slight one.

You take the hiring of the offensive coordinator out of Tomlins hands whether he likes it or not. You can do the same for Austin.

Yes, we are all aware of the "official story" on Munch, but most of us have suspicions
over the official story. Munch offered too much leadership for Tomlin to be comfortable with so he had to go.

Exactly. I honestly dont see how anyone can argue against seeing what he can do for the remainder of this year and then make a decision based off of that.

If the offense doesn’t improve much then you begin a search for a new OC but maybe you catch lightening in a bottle with Lefty.

Proceeding with a guy that has failed with 3 QB so far and has mounds of data highlighting his incompetence is not the path.

There is ample evidence of him making poor assistant coaching hires. There is no evidence that he is doing it because he is insecure. Why would he be? It's not as if there is much of a chance that he will be fired.

I don’t think it’s that. I think he is too hands on for established OC/DC’s. Every head coach has input and helps shape the game plan but I think he does much more than that which no coordinator worth their salt is going to put up with.

I remember one response from him in regards to a question he was asked about input and he said “I do more than suggest”. The way he said it and the look on his face told me he is heavily involved.

That makes a lot more sense than this insecurity foolishness that a few people are pushing.

I agree. My only fear would be, how much length of the leash would Tomlin give Leftwich. If he doesn't allow him to be creative, it kind of defeats the purpose.
Truth is, I just don't know enough
about his last season with the Bucs to make a solid judgement.

Can you say "Control Freak"? LeBeau resigned because of this. And your right Blast who would want to come here to be micro managed. The hiring of a new offensive coordinator as well as the defensive coordinator has to be Khan, Weidl and Art II. Although I have a suspicion Austin will be resigned.

Did LeBeau really resign on his own or was he pushed out? I had always heard it was the latter.

Possibly but he also stated that he wasn't retiring like they did to Arians :lolol:

Tomlin wanted to take over the defense so the pushed out comment could have been a reality.

    Good story about LeBeau's departure:

Suit up Mean Joe Greene and Jack Lambert and even bring back Mike Webster from the grave.

I know it's not going to happen, that's why I stated hypothetically.

hard to say, but could it hurt ANY to make the change? Cana-duh won't be here in 13 more games anyhow - just RIP the bandaid off now. it should have been done in January, cowardly ownership

Sure, no argument here. But the point is that at least part of the reason they brought him on board was to help with the defense. The offense is in worse shape now relative to the defense then.

This is my thinking as well. I don't necessarily see Leftwich as a savior, but if he would come in and finish the season as an offensive assistant with Canada they could make an informed decision on their direction with OC in the offseason.

You're not going to overhaul the entire offensive system midseason. Best you can do is find somebody who identifies better use of the plays within it. Is Leftwich that guy? Not sure. But things can't get a lot worse.

You'd have to grasp the mind of a megalomaniac to understand.

You obviously aren't familiar with megalomania.
