Gosh dang it! Fire Canada during the bye, bring in Lefty and let him finish out the season and if he does a good job extend him. If not, look for a replacement. Seems so simple! Break out of your comfort zone for once.

I saw this earlier in the day and was miffed as well. They bring Flores in as a defensive assistant after a subpar 2021, but won't do the same for a unit for which 'subpar' would be an improvement. That makes sense.

Flores was proven. Was Lefty’s success a product of Brady and Arians?

One could say so given his short time as an OC. He was fired from the Cardinals in 2018 before Arians picked him back up in Tampa. Arians always spoke very highly of him, but he was again let after last season.

That said, it wouldn't take much to make this offense look better, but it would take a lot to make it look worse.

i don't know where he fits in the coaching room. OC Matt Canada, QB Coach Mike Sullivan, and Special Offensive Assistant Glenn Thomas.

Now If they want to fill the Vacant Assistant Head Coach position to be the #2 man in charge of everything, that is not Byron, but that sure could be Mike Munchak.

Flores was stuck in no man's land due to his lawsuit against the league, the Dolphins, and the Broncos. Tomlin and the Steelers were helping him out and helping the team at the same time. This is a different circumstance.

You answered your own question. The last I checked he was fired. Not on board with bringing him in even as a consultant.

If they were going to fire Jet Sweep I believe they would give the interim to Sullivan. They would not bring in someone from the outside 5 games in. Canada stays after that riveting offensive display against the crows.

After the season Khan, Weidl and Art II hire the next offensive coordinator. A possibility they do the same with Austin.

It is always tough to evaluate the offensive coordinator when they have a head coach who can run an offense like Arians can, but it's tough to succeed when your quarterback should have retired, the team took big hits in free agency and lost some key guys to injury.

There is no way that Mike Munchak will come be an assistant Head Coach for Mike Tomlin. It would mean that the Rooneys made past mistakes. JMHO

Agree, be careful what you wish for. Gruden would take the job

The woke NFL kicked Gruden out of the league. No chance he ever comes back.

Did Munchak leave on bad terms or did he want to be closer to family?

To me it seemed like both. He was passed over for a promotion and I believe he left with a bad taste in his mouth. This is just speculation on my part.

Why do you think Munch was chased off to begin with? Tomlin can't stand having competent possible replacements around, he's too threatened by them. Megalomaniacs unite!

They could/should bring in Byron for a chat.
There are teams that have employed a Passing game specialist.

Currently they have only Canada as the Offensive Coordinator.
Mike Sullivan is a QB coach with some OC experience.
They have Glenn Thomas as an Offensive Assistant. He has an interesting resume. (I hope the plan is not to elevate him to OC)
Thomas is probably the reason they have not talked with Byron.

Somehow, they have to figure something out that energizes this offensive design which is ranking at the bottom.
I see no valid reason to not interview Byron, if not for anything else by to light a fire under the seat of Canada/Thomas.
I certainly don't care if they get upset, they've proved nothing.

While Leftwich was fired after a subpar Brady year (after Arians was forced out), most teams react too quickly and fire coaches for one bad year. I say fire Canada, bring in Leftwich as the interim OC and extend him for next year if he improves. Which most likely he will improve the team even if it is a little bit. Next year could be the make-or-break year. Worst case scenario bring in Leftwich to work with Canada to make it a more fluid transition to Leftwich.

The goal is to have a above average OC...Just better that Canada is not enough

I’ve been saying this for a few years now. MT seems insecure and really hires personnel way beneath him. They usually become scapegoats. Again this is JMHO.

But it's an opinion with a lot of validity and evidence of its truth.
