Unlike the rest of us, Canada knew that was going to be a TD, so he was not surprised and played it as cool as a cucumber.

    That's how good coaches roll...

I was at the game today. One thing I noticed was the number of open receivers on a lot of plays. I’m not saying Canada isn’t an issue, but a lot of guys were open today.

I always liked it too because one of the players got a scholarship to WVU

I think that's been a recurring theme with Pickett. However, what matters more is what is happening in the pocket when those recievers come open. Pickett may not always have time to see them. Either way, his field vision needs to improve.

The head coach was played by Craig T. Nelson and most of that movie was shot in and around Johnstown Pa. When one of my wife's sisters lived there, her ex drove me by the very house where the coach lived. It looked exactly the same. It was actually closer to Windber. Of course, it was only about five or so years after the movie was made. I had such a crush on Lea Thompson back in the 80's. Pretty good flick. I thought "Varsity Blues" was sort of an over-the-top rip-off of that movie, but I enjoyed it as well.

That was a strange reaction indeed. On the rare occasion the Steelers offense has scored a TD this season, Canada would be pumping his fist when they showed him. So this reaction was certainly out of character for him.

I honestly feel that maybe he just felt the need to exhale. No matter what we think of the guy professionally, he has to be feeling a tremendous amount of pressure. In that light, we need to remember the guy is still a human being and he's doing the best he can. No, we obviously don't think it's good enough, but I wouldn't want to be in his position for all the whiskey in Ireland.

Craig T Nelson made a Matt Canada like call to lose the title game in that movie. Cruise blitzed and stopped the runner on 4th and goal with just seconds left in the game. All they had to do was kneel down once and the game was over but Craig T called a delayed handoff in his own end zone that resulted in a safety to lose the game by one point.

A few plays earlier, Kenny probably could have hit Pickens deep. Ravens didn’t have any safeties deep. They must have been selling out on the run. Play action would’ve worked beautifully as well.

It might be premature, but Brock sort of reminds me of Steve Young or any prototypical west coast offense qb…he is super quick to make reads, he knows where the ball is going, he gets rid of it fast, and it is accurately placed.

It is crazy, he's throwing to spots well before the WR is there and trusts the play that the WR will be there. Amazing for a 2nd year guy. He doesn't lock in on one guy that KP still is doing. The play designs though are so good as guys are wide wide open!! We can only dream our OC could design plays like this!! Plus his O Line is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was one sack Kenny took where, yes, the offensive line didn’t give him time, but Ravens were sending extra guys. He should definitely had a hot route to get it out quick. He needs to recognize it and change the play.

Also, I’m not sure what to make of the roll out plays they have Kenny do? He sux at them. He either makes bad decisions or poor throws. I’m thinking they are just doing it to keep defenses honest or combat the poor interior line play. Maybe instead they should bring back the WR bubble screens Ben used to like?

I was curious if this was the case. I have a question though...are the plays taking too long to develop and the WR are eventually getting open when Kenny is getting pressured/sacked? Or are they open and Kenny is just not seeing the field? He looks skittish to me and doesn't look like he trusts the Oline.

I think Kenny just isn’t seeing the field. I think the play of his offensive line has him a bit scared.

The line is porous so DT’s and linebackers will be distracting.

If he settles down and the line improves I think he will have a better showing.

2 yard runs on 1st down ain’t helping his cause either.

Again, I made a post somewhere on this site - I know KFP’s lack of development/regression is some of his own doing of course, I’m not insane, but and equal or majority of the blame is on the upper management of this organization for not nurturing this hopeful franchise QB along with good teaching and preparation.

I doubt he’s looking this rough in San Fran. Juju said some very damning things after he was in a great offense in his first season.

The game is to fast for Kenny right now. He is not going through his progressions and gets happy feet far too quickly. Some of this can be attributed to him not trusting the OLine or Canadas calls but some is just on him. He needs to get better quick if this team is to turn things around after the bye week.

They wanted a walk off field goal so the Ravens had no time.

I feel the same way. I think that our team is going in the wrong direction. Anything that delays forcing a dramatic change in something is just kicking the can down the road. A part of me was hoping that the Ravens would crush us today so that there would be nothing to prevent them from firing that Canada. We played like crap today. But we won. So now I worry that this win will stand in the way of improving the team.

It just has to be phrased in the right way. You can get an answer from no answer if you ask the correct question.

Yes, of course, but NFL players don’t just “get better quick” they are taught, trained, and prepared as well as giving max personal effort. I’m willing to bet that KFP is doing his part as best as he can. His natural skills and abilities are enough because they have been on display. Spotty display, but displayed.

I’m not seeing the coaching up to par. Because I’m seeing that evidence too in the rest of the team in a great amount also. Good and bad coaching can also be viewed all over the NFL. We are on the bad side of it.

Todays win was given to us by 14 points dropped. Not earned through a majority of better overall play.

Our current record is fools gold folks.

We are NOT what our record says we are.
