I thought he got both elbows down in the end zone for the TD to be honest.

not sure if I'd call it a challenge win - the challenge was for a completed catch - which he lost. but it was fumbled out of bounds....so it didn't cost Steeler's a time out.

whoever was punting for Steelers - no crazy good kicks but also no 20-yard shanks......I'd call that a win.

It was so close. I thought it was a great effort and said so in the GDT.

    Agree,

done with Moore Jr. Jones should start as should JP Jr.

torn on the RB situation. I hate the fact that some of these guys career’s are being damaged by Canadas ineptitude (KP and Najee mainly) I think Derek Watt got shafted as well. I’d continue to play both and get rid of Canada before benching Najee.

I thought so, too, but he didn't fully control the ball until after that happened.

Every time Gunner is near the ball something bad happens. It's worse then watching Ray Ray "butterfingers" McLeod return for us.

Oh yeah, I remember that one game. Where he ran for 71 yds. Doubling his numbers from 3 of the other 4 games.

    Stat line through 5 games: 63/247/3.9 ypc/0 TD's/5 rec

    Definitely lead back material.

Warren clearly creates space with vision and burst. He clearly doesn't get enough carries to really shine. Only has 34 carries through 5 games. Less than 7 carries a game for him? He should be getting double that. Many more chances for him to find rythym, and hit some bigger runs.

Najee runs hard. That's really the only thing anybody ever says about him. Right this second, off the top of my head, I could name at least 15-20 RBs that I'd trade our 1st rd wonder boy, straight up for.

Weird fact- If the season ended today, Pittsburgh would be the #3 seed in the AFC.

Your slowly coming around about Warren, I still think that giving the same amount of snaps Warren will out gain Harris in the long term over a course of a year. When Warren does break out of the whole just his speed and vision will out gain Harris. Harris is bigger and stronger but slower and not great vision. On short yardage I would still use Harris and tell him no stutter step, just hit the hole quick and hard and get the 1 or 2 yards. Quite trying to run like Bell as he doesn't have the explosion needed for that type of running.

i would not use Harris for short yardage at ALL and EVER.

He does not use his size to demolish guys and he dances in the backfield. He does not and will never get it, I am afraid. in fact, he is limited b/c of his size. He is not learning, and that is as much a problem w him as anything.

That is behind a weak offensive line with very little passing game to speak of, which is what Harris has faced most of his career.

Jaylen Warren faces a similar problem, which is why he has only 124 yards on 34 carries this season, a 3.6 average. It's funny that y'all keep insisting that he has somehow won the job from Harris even though Harris's numbers running the ball are actually better.

Even one of his big runs yesterday, the one where he hurdled a defender, Harris was on the field and the defense flowed with him, allowing Warren to make a nice gain on an end around. Don't get me wrong. Warren needed to play more yesterday as the game went on. They needed him out there as a receiver and he had some momentum going as a runner.

We are talking about two different things. I'm not trying to justify spending a first-round pick on Harris. I think the bigger mistake in that draft was Freiermuth over Humphrey in the second round, but taking a back like Harris without a strong offensive line didn't work.

What I am addressing is the idea of him as the lead back. He has been the better runner this season. If the Steelers are still going to commit to the running game, he needs to be the lead back, with Warren getting plenty of work, too.

I'm not changing my mind about Warren at all. Look at what I wrote in preseason. I argued strongly against the idea of creating opportunities for McFarland because I thought that would take snaps and touches away from Warren. I have been a big fan of his since he made the team. I also think his current role is the right one. Play him on third down and sprinkle him in the rest of the time as Harris's backup. If he gets hot, like he did yesterday, run with him.

    good job, not great.

He SUCKED from the 45 and boomed it into the Rats EZ - net of about 25 on that one.

why these guys can't 'coffin corner' anymore, I have no idea.

OR - punt it HIGH and let your guys get down there and field it.

So - good day, but that kept it from great in my book

yeah - I just skip these posts all the time. Nothing matters much in Sept / Oct, as far as standings. We have seen CINCY get hot as a BUZZ SAW and rack up 10 straight. We ain't doing that.

but FUN to be on top for the week!

I'm not gonna lie for a guy who hasn't punted in the NFL since the 2017 season, Brad Wing hasn't been terrible really.

He did have one go into the endzone yesterday when we could of pinned them deep but, as a holder and punter its been more than adequate.

I was expecting disaster for a guy who hadn't done in the NFL in almost 6 years.

I don’t think he has the vision either. I think that is the bigger problem with Najee.

But neither he nor Warren are going to do a whole lot with this blocking.

Last year we were 1-4 at this time. Missed the playoffs on the Jets being the Jets. So, standings matter even in Sept/Oct.
