A question on OC changes during the season.

When an OC goes, presumably they take their playbook with them - unless they don't have rights over their own plays, and the Steelers own it? (Excluding the standard stock plays in every playbook, obviously)

Presumably a new OC can't bring in an entirely new playbook and expect a team to learn it during the bye week.

From a copyright law perspective, and absent contractual terms otherwise, the playbook (and all amendments/additions thereto) are the property of the team/employer (who also is considered the author of such writings).

That's what I suspected - similar to industry and education in that respect.

So a new OC would likely be tinkering with what's there, for this season at least.

(That would still be an improvement, mind - half the problem is the playcalling as much as the plays)

This is JV coach speak after 4 games of poor performance and realizing the fans are pissed. The tactic is to sound like something big is going happen when in reality not planning to make any real changes. Have to say something to be tough and fool them again. JMO>

Yep. And it's been going on for over a decade. His credibility is crap yet Rooney just keeps eating it up.

Yes, we get it. You think he not only sucked the first four games, but he will suck for all time.

No, I don't think getting rid of Canada now will magically make him great. I think it will help, but there are still issues. The pass protection is poor. The running game is inconsistent. Their best receiver is still out. All of those things are also hindering Pickett's development. His handling of those obstacles has been extremely disappointing. His eyes are on the pass rush instead of looking down field. He is rushing decisions and throws, leading to him not seeing open receivers or making poor throws. It's going to take some work just to get him back where he was at the end of last season, much more work to get him where he can be great. I still think those things are possible, but an in-season change in offensive coordinators will make things more difficult in the short run, not easier. It is still the right thing to do because it gets rid of one of the things holding Pickett and the rest of the offense back, the piss-poor planning and play-calling by Canada.

No apparently You don't get it. I didn't say he will suck. I said He has been sucking, and everything I thought He was great at he has shown He isn't this year. I asked a Question, and You automatically said this is what I think. Tell Me one time I haven't been behind KFP??? Pointing out what He's doing wrong, and wondering if He's got it doesn't mean I don't want him to do very well. LoL, but instead of answering the question I ask....You decide to tell Me what I think. LoL
No one on here will tell You I'm not a huge fan of Ben's. I pointed out all the time when He did stupid things on the field. Especially his 1st 4 years.

Nobody is disputing that he has sucked. To use a phrase you seem to like, you are arguing with yourself. You certainly seem to be implying that he will continue to suck, but the for all time thing was just me using a little hyperbole.

You are hammering away at how awful he has been. You keep pushing back on even the fourth-and-one play, which was ****ed up from the start by Tomlin and Canada. I never wrote or implied that you don't want him to do well. Thinking he will suck and wanting him to fail are not the same thing.

No....Like I answered You elsewhere. I believe it a mental thing. The problem is .....that's His strongest asset, and it's not an easy thing to fix. I know this personally. I promise I want, and hope He does fix it, but like many players......especially in football the Kicker, Qb, and CBs sometimes never get it back. That's all. I never said he won't be better. I asked do people believe He will.

It is 90% mental and the other half is physical

    - Yogi Berra

Will he get it back I have no idea

But at the end of last season he was steadily improving I had/have hope that can continue

He is a large part of the issue. But he starts! Should be Benton, Ogunjobi, Leal. How about giving a hat to Fehoko?

We talk so much about the Offense being stale but this defense is just as much to blame.

Like you said you have 2 corners who can't cover a grill at this point. But Austin said that Porter Jr isn't ready yet. You throw him into the fire. At least give him more snaps not decrease them! And what about Chandon Sulllivan?

For real. It's like he just expects to impose his will on them and win. Study game film, find mismatches and weaknesses to exploit and for Pete's sake be a little creative.
