Kenny is not great. But he honestly can't get anything going on 70% of these plays being called.

It is difficult to honestly tell about Kenny at this point. He likely is not going to be great but within that same vein, how much does this befall on Canada?! For me, quite a bit.

Again, this does not absolve Kenny of blame; a wide open Connor Heyward just being the highlight of many bad plays that happened in Houston. However, Matt Canada simply has not helped, at all, since 2021.

Just to look what Howell look like with the former OC of the chiefs. He was awful vs Bills but he has been great outside of that game and today,Washington have 31 points in Philadelphia and they are in overtime...No way it would happen under Matt Canada

Two good posts from the game thread.

Rooney is at the bottom rungs of team owner wealth. He's at 30, Bengals at 31 and Packers at 32 because they don't have an owner per se. If he sits on Canada so he doesn't pay for Canada to sit home or pay another OC contract at same time as Canada's, it could define future success if he is not willing to bring in top coaching talent at the coordinator's position.

As far as the Texans offense, when DeMarco Ryan became Texans HC, he brought in Bobby Slowik as OC. Slowik has only been involved with NFL teams under both Mike (defense) and Kyle Shanahan (defense & offense). He knows their system and DeMarco recognized that and trusted him to be his OC.
    Washington Redskins (2011–2013) Defensive assistant
San Francisco 49ers (2017–2018) Defensive quality control coach
San Francisco 49ers (2019–2020) Offensive assistant
San Francisco 49ers (2021) Offensive pass game specialist
San Francisco 49ers (2022) Offensive passing game coordinator
    Houston Texans (2023–present) Offensive coordinator

Maybe Steelers turn it around, but not looking good at moment. If Steelers choose to keep Canada this season, they need to look at solid NFL experience under top offensive system. I'm amazed at how Shanahan's keeps his system working no matter how much his offensive & defensive coaching staff going to other teams.

My question is this, why can’t we have an OC that can call plays like Houston did today. Quick passing and misleading runs. They kept you guessing whether it was a pass or run.

A smart OC would would call plays to get the passes out of KP hands quick, if you are gonna go for it on 4th down at least get your QB under center and do a quick play action pass. Hello I would have rather seen a dang jet sweep instead of shotgun and deep pass. That was a game changer right there.

I know Kenny has played HORRIBLE. But the play calling is definitely not helping at all.

I mean, it might not have been the sort of response that any OC with even a trace of self respect would ever say publicly, but I appreciate his honesty.

My wife said at that moment...... that punk can't get anything going. He was the top in 3 and out last year, and he's there again.

To me, the 4th and 1...shotgun pass play that got KP hurt should be an executable offense.

They should've left him at the stadium.

I've always hated and I never get 4th and 1 from the shotgun. Yeah, lets turn 4th and 1 into 4th and 4 before you even snap the ball.

Especially from a team that yearns to be "smash mouth." Run Harris behind Heyward right between your #1 draft pick that you traded up to get, and your gargantuan tight-end. Shove it right up their ass...Instead they get cute and get KP injured.

The system is so bad it's hard to get a fair read on the players. Kenny has not been good but the entire offense looks terrible and there is frequently chaos the moment the ball is snapped. No player, especially young ones, can succeed like that. Massive changes are needed, and have been needed for a long time.

Fans are emotional and will call for anyone’s head after a poor performance. But when everyone else is questioning Canada’s decisions and lack of awareness, the front office needs to take that to heart and seriously consider letting him go

    ... :(

Poor Broderick..... man... do I feel for him!

Now granted, Broderick could have sustained that block better on Johnathan Greenard. That said, Pickett has been running himself into pressure more often than not. None of this though is the biggest issue that I have with this play call...

Why the HELL ARE YOU NOT GOING FOR A QB SNEAK ON 4TH AND 1?!?!?!

That is, or should be, A MUCH BIGGER TALKING POINT of discussion right now!!!:mad::mad:

I agree on the system. Cooper Kupp goes out and 5th round rookie pick, Puka Nacua, is playing like an All Pro. Teams like Chiefs, Rams, 49ers, and others, seem to stay competitive. Understandable, the loss of starting quarterback is typically their Achilles heel for their systems.

I say run right behind Broderick and Washington with Heyward leading the way. You want to be smash mouth, then be smash mouth, not trying to fool them with something cutesy.
