I thought they beat the Jaguars?

He will do well to emulate Tomlin. Not many coaches have won a Super Bowl and stick around as long as he has.

Nope he was the one who let BA and Ben convince him that attacking the weakest run defense in superbowl history through the air was a great game plan. He is the head coach and the choice rests with him. Did Tomlin make Ben throw a pick followed by a pick-6 to open the game? Nope. But he sure as heck didn't stop it from happening. Did he force Mendenhall to fumble the ball as they finally started dig themselves out of a hole by running the football. Nope but again he chose the strategy that put them down early and didn't change it until it was apparent that the Packers secondary was its strongest unit so maybe don't test them.

That game always reminds me of how stubborn Ben could be just like when the Browns drafted Ward and Ben decided he would test the rookie and Ward didn't blink. The every game after that he still went after Ward and got picked.

Actually that title goes to the 2006 colts averaging 176yards per game. Packers had the #2 overall defense. Face it ben choked

He did no doubt about that but Tomlin was the coach that ok'd the stupidity that was hey the Packers are bad against the run, but Allstars vs the pass so let's throw the ball. That is on Ben, BA and Tomlin they were all stupid that day. Ben just wanted to be SB MVP so bad that it f-d up his chance at #3

Mendenhall fumble was a killer, I believe we were inside GB 40 or 30, with a chance to take the lead!
Btw, Diva Rodgers was spot on with his passes too against good coverage

That's quibbling over gash in your forearm when the real problem is the hole in your chest. If the triade doesn't spot the Packers 14 points in the opening quarter by trying to catch them off guard by passing(stupid plan) Mendenhall 's fumble becomes a nonfactor. Not to absolve Ben and BA of their stupidity either but Mendenhall and the jack of all trades master of none David Johnson should not have been the pillars holding up the Steelers SB dreams either. That is another mark in Tomlin's negative column. Hey fullbacks in the NFL are a dying breed we don't need someone who has played the position their whole career, I'll cut them and convert mediocre TE's into HBacks and let them lead block. Stupidity in all its glory.

Did anyone happen to notice on Sunday the one time they used Heyward as a lead blocker or FB on a FB dive he got blown up and when trying to grind it out in the final minutes that Harris was getting slowed in the backfield by guys that a true lead blocker could pancake and allow him to get 6 to 7 yards instead of negative inches.

I call bs… Steelers were back in game after spotting 14pts… were going to take the lead. So what you say we gave up 14 pts in first qtr.. game over. Very much disagree. Unfortunately hear this scenario from a lot of people in all games. What happened, happened move forward.
Also i agree with you on Raiders game!

The difference is instead of starting on an even footing with the Packers, Ben throws a pick leading to the Packers first score, then on the next drive he throws a pick-6 so before people are in thier seats the Steelers were down. They got back in the game by running the football and momentum was definitely going their way until the fumble. Imagine how the game unfolds if Ben doesn't want to be the hero and BA wasn't willing to give him whatever he wants or Tomlin says screw all you we are the Pittsburgh Steelers we are going to run the damn ball. Instead of playing from behind they are playing the Packers on even ground. What happened did happen no changing it but too many people try to lay the loss completely on Mendenhall 's fumble because he said things they don't like or because they truly believe it was all his fault. Being down 2 scores in the first 10 minutes is what ultimately doomed the team. The fumble was just the last wound. End of the day the guy in charge was the one that decided to let Ben have his way and he will never own that because he doesn't look at the past.

I lost the liking of him after a few seasons, best nickname ever: Spin-and-Fall.

He was always one broken tackle away from a big play, but never broke the last tackle. Always spinning and falling.

He liked to spin way to early. He'd start his spin and the defender would just wait and tackle him when his back was to them. What made it worse was that he thought it was a good move and tried it all the time. At least when Conner used it he waited until the defender tried to wrap up and spun out of it. Never understood why a player liked putting his back to a defender and can't see where he is going.

Good point about him spinning too early. Like I said, he always seemed one broken tackle away from a big gain, and he never seemed to break that one tackle, ever. Now that I think of it, his lack of long runs had him also end up with a career ypc of less than 4 like someone else we know.

I guess You forgot the PI so bad that it took a player out of the game. We had been throwing that exact same play to start games all year with Wallace to jump out in a lead. So why wouldn't We do it in that game???
Also go back , and watch everything....., and you tell Me why that was a pick. I think You are miss remembering.

This is one of those classic popcorn games where the Steelers could very well play down to the competition

2014: Bucs with legendary QB- Glennon, Browns, Jets
2015: Ravens with legendary QB- Mallet
    2016: Dolphins
2017: Bears with legendary QB- Glennon
2018: Broncos with legendary QB- Keenum; Raiders with legendary QB- Glennon

Difference is Stroud is pretty good. I heard today that their coach was the one to give the 49ers the heads up on what to play against Pickett.

Sounds to me like somebody lost a substantial bet on the Steelers/Packers SB game and is still a little bitter about it. Even when the thread is about this week's game in 2023, week4. ???

The NFL is just full of NFL teams. If you do not prepare for a team, that team might just beat you. Sometimes even when you prepare very well, have a good gameplan in place, AND make good playcalls and adjustments in-game, the other team still wins.

This week the Steelers will win though.
