But if he is practicing at a less than starter capacity he most certainly should not be starting

See isn’t it fun to learn about football from knowledgeable people

Never be afraid to learn and ask for help in your areas of weakness

I can't answer nor speculate why they are not giving Jones his chance.
I watched him in preseason, and he was at least as good as Moore overall.
My impression is that he's a little quicker, has more body strength but I thought he needed some experience with handling those Crosby types.. that comes from playing time.
I didn't spend a lot of time in Latrobe this year, so I am way behind on that sort of thing.
But like others, I think it is only a question of time. I can't say it is right or wrong to wait in the meantime.

I haven't really paid much attention but do the guards pull much in our offense?

Or he has limited experience coming out of college and he is raw, just like every evaluation of him said. But hey, if you want to be ridiculous and panic about a first-round pick not starting three games into his career, by all means, go for it.

Jones may be raw but Jesus when your OLine is playing and grading out this poorly don’t you give the guy a shot and some experience? Could he actually do worse???

I think this is more about MT and his veteran favorites than it is Jones being raw.

Hah! Even I can agree with that statement, and I’m in the camp that sees Moore as a subpar left tackle.

Now if anyone wants to compare a current lineman to Green, they need look no further than Green’s replacement at Center. Cole has been a disaster so far in 2023.

How is stating that Moore and Green both get/got a lot of opportunity the equiviilant of comparing them as players? It's not even close to doing that.

I thought Cole was solid last year man what a regression. This OLine is nothing short of a disaster yet our first rd pick is picking daisies on the sideline.

They have faced an elite edge rusher in every game so far. Perhaps that wasn't the best time to just throw the kid out there out of frustration with the starters.

Yea Bosa Garrett and Crosby have to be three of the best DE in football. Still he should be getting a shot very soon if things don’t improve the next couple weeks.

    Yeah... no.

Jarvis Jones was widely reputed to benefit from the system. Colbert and Tomlin both somehow... someway... talked themselves into that one. The abilities of Tyree Wilson vs Jarvis Jones are as wide as the gap of heaven and earth.

Yes Cole has not been playing that well as the offensive line as a whole but man I would never compare him with Green.

And we get to see Green this weekend. On the sidelines.

Not sure I would characterize it as ridiculous and panic, but to each his own!

Fans think they know more than the coaches , Jones only had one year of starting experience in college, maybe he was of a draft pick for the future they have two capable starters at the tackle position.

Well they certainly are not playing like capable starters! They both suck if you hadn't noticed.

You used the word frightening, so panic is a fair description. Panicking this quickly is ridiculous, so that word is fair, too.

This is a conservative organisation being conservative.

He was never going to start on day 1 in a million years, irrespective of TC performance, and they're going to drag out DMJ and Chuks for as long as they possible can before making the switch, they're doing it with JPJ, you're not going to see these guys get a start until every single ounce of suck has been wrung out of the current incumbents.

You're not going to see Darnell Washington either, doesn't matter had bad Muth's blocking is until they absolutely have to.

They just don't like rookies on the field that all there is to it.

This org would have made Anthony Munoz sit.

You are the guy with a Strunk and White on your desk. I will say it one last time, I was SURPRISED he hasn't seen the field yet. Not go look for grammar errors in peoples texts.

Washington has played quite a bit. How did you not notice?

He's not going to start over Freiermuth, who is a better overall player even though his blocking has actually gotten worse.

Tomlin has played rookies. Moore started from day one. So did Edmunds and Bush.

Some people just want to ignore what the Steelers drafted in Jones, a very talented player who only had one year as a starter in college, so just about every projection had him as a raw player who probably wouldn't be ready to start right away.

I actually do have a copy of The Elements of Style, but I can't remember the last time I opened it. I believe you meant to start that last sentence with now instead of not.

You used the word frightening first, then shifted to surprised. To be fair, that was your made-up notion that he wasn't "showing it" in practice.
